Hey folks,

Has anyone had any trouble with small metal implants going thru airport security? I am planning a trip this month and wanted to know if there was anything I needed to do to prepare for this, considering I have a metal plate in my neck?

Anything I've read states that you should just inform security beforehand.

Thanks,
SL

I have no idea. I used to work for Delta, but that was waaaayyyy before 9/11.

I'm sure you just have to let them know before you pass through security though.

So, does it hold a magnet, cause that would be to frikin cool! laugh

NEVERMIND!!!

The implant is titanium, so I shouldn't have any problems in airport security, which is nice. One less thing..

NO BC, it doesn't hold a magnet--but that WOULD be kewl cool

I don't need that though, I'm super kewl without it grin

I have 5 wires and 10 screws in my face-----well in the bone beneath my face-----and they have never caused a problem.

Hi !

I've carried a surgical steel zimmer plate and six screws for 22 years in my leg, and a titanium pivot in my wrist for five years.

I do occasionally set off metal detectors, but in my case the scarring ,and the fact that if you press you can palpate the screw heads usually convinces security officers that I'm not a threat.

I was also advised by a kind Swiss security officer that to be as "narrow" as possible - joining hands in front like I'm about to dive in a pool and brush my thighs together as I pass through the arch minimises the "beeps".

Hope this helps !

This just boggles the mind. What could the 10 censored things in Cinders' face be?

I vote this as a new euphemism.

Ex: Could you believe the quick whistle in the Chargers-Broncos game earlier this year?

Oh, yes, they got totally construction materialled by that call.
