Well, since no one said I couldn't post it here, I'm going to do it.

"hi,I get alot of pm's etc asking about poly info and try to catch as many threads as I can for people considering it.
I thought it might be good to put the info in a thread, and anyone that can add to this please add what you learned and what your experience was.
If you are considering a polygraph for your spouse, here is what I did and my take on it.
I waited until I felt I had all I was going to get in the way of the truth.Sometimes I wish I had done it earlier, but due to the expense I felt it best to wait until I had all I was going to get.Since failure was going to result in divorce.Having a poly too early can open up a whole realm of other questions that unless you can afford subsequent p.g.e.'s will still leave you hanging.
1-go to your state website for poly and pi licensure.
2-email some of the board, they can help you find someone that hasn't had complaints filed, etc.**you may find some of the board must pre-approve your email before they will respond..this is normal..go ahead and fill it out.
3-you will see the people in your area that are licensed and can get background info on them and contact info
4-I do NOT recommend just pulling a name out of the phone book
5-talk at length with the examiner prior to the test
6-do not tell your spouse at this time that you plan a poly..here is why...if anything falls through..you will look weak...like you were bluffing
7-some examiners will only do a few questions for an extremely high fee...shop around some
***our case***the examiner is retired fbi for 32 years...he was well qualified and reputable and metacilous.
8-our case-I designed with his help a questionaire for my spouse..as many questions as I wanted...and well designed ones ..they encompassed any way of fudging the truth.I had 45 total.
9-The examiner had me give the questionaire to my spouse prior to the test...this is important...he had ample opp to ammend any of his answers..to think alone with the questions..to take his time in responding..
***these are yes/no questions***
10-location-we used a motel half distance for us and the examiner...the examiner felt a neutral location best.
11-my H was again asked the questions in my presence..all of them..given another opp to ammend answers
12-the examiner met with him..hooked him up..this is not just a finger tip and bp cuff..he was wired many places
13-the examiner administered my questions and several of his own
14-if you want the session taped..ask in advance..it often costs extra
15-make sure the scoring is explained to both of you
16-**the examiner in our case assured us both that if my H lied on any portion of any question..he would fail..the examiners opinion was that no one can lie and pass unless sociopath..this is not everyone's opinion..I'm sharing what his experience has taught him...that someone can attempt to skew data..but that a well trained examiner with good equipment can ask the questions so many ways, measure so many points that are not things you can control..that even valium is not gonna work if the examiner is skilled enough..because he will see you are medicated through the testing results of autonomic responses.**not asking anyone to agree with this..only repeating what he told us****
17-this is not cheap...our's was about $750.00...but I'd do it again.
I don't have time right now to post the modified questions I used, but I will if anyone wants them.
Please anyone that can add to this do so...this is not change that you spend to do this and the results are more valuable than money .UU "

thanks believer! That is a great list.

Thank you so much for this believer! This is very helpful.

I am still trying to swallow the $750.00! I did not anticipate that. It is worth it to me but darn, that is a bit more than I expected.

SSS, there was someone else from the U.S. on this forum who paid $300-$500, so shop around.

If anyone from Canada is reading this info, you are limited to 1 issue or question, asked in different ways. This is what I was told. Quotes were from $500-$1100.

See, I would think those are horrible questions. Totally vague and unspecific. Terms are not defined.

"an adultery"?

1) Have you had more than one adultery? NO

Define an 'adultery"?

2) Did that adultery begin physically before summer 2004? No

Define adultery, physical, and summer 2004. Hmm...was it in May, or August? Oops I forget and lied.

3) Did that adultery end in all ways in April 2006? Yes

6) Does your wife know the complete account of all sex acts including number of times and postions with **ow**? Yes

As an attorney would say, calls for specutulation. How does he know what his wife knows? Anyone here remember everything communicated after d-day?

7) Have you ever or do you love **ow**? No

Oh please. Define love.

9) Does your wife know of all gifts exchanged during the adultery? Yes(couple of burnt cd's,a canned drink and a bag of m&m's)

11) Did you go with **ow** to anywhere other than where your wife knows? No

Again, asks him to know what his wife knows.

39)Are you honest? Yes

Oh, please.

This is worse than a waste of $750, because it burns the bite at the apple the parties might have for trust because I would think it would wind up in tons of false results.

I would think these have to be written unambigously like a deposition with terms defined and acknowledged in advance.

Mike - I thought it was a good example of what kind of questions to ask. Of course, each person can choose their own.

The most interesting part to me was that you can shop around for someone who will ask more than a couple of questions.

Also, the original poster told her hubby that if he thought the polygraph was not accurate, that she would pay for a second one. Much cheaper than a divorce.

And note that when he saw the questions beforehand, he the truth came flying out, before the polygraph. But anyway, he did pass and they are happily recovered.

Which really is the whole idea. I thought the list was pretty good.

Thanks for this thread Believer.

My understanding is that the more questions asked, (details not the same question asked in different ways) the accuracy of the test declines.

And yes they puke up all sorts of nasties grin Poor babies.

Yeah, my WW spilled her guts when she thought she was about to get wired. Of course, the wayward has to care about the consequences of a failed test. The way they learned to lie, I think they would just look you in the eye and say the test was BS.

I wish I had gone about the questioning in a more structured way. Written out the questions with a lot of thought. Maybe made her sign her answers, or do a post-nup or something.

I had a lot more upperhand then. Now it seesaws.
