Unfortunately, he comes on while I'm still at work. I'm curious to see responses to his show (I'll have to look it up later). Wanna share your thoughts, Pep?

I just read the synopsis - interesting. I feel bad because at least the husband is trying to get back with his wife. My H has an affair with his direct report for less than 2 months and never looked back.
He has never faltered and is deep into this with OW which will make him lose his career.
Never gave us a chance after 21 years. Did not want to work on the M. That is how much power was in their A. Pretty sad.
Me 55, XWH 53, M 22 years D17, D30 alien replaces my husband "I'm not happy" -7/08 Discover OW-8/08 (his direct report and I work there also) H moves out 10/1/08, confront Ow 10/28/08 Plan B 1/09 D final 12/09

I am sorry, but isn't "Dr. Phil" the same Dr Phil that got caught in his own web of lies?..the same guy that his first wife has ousted him?
I love Oprah... but this man I can not stomach....sorry

I loved the line (from the webpage, didn't see the show):
"If you wouldn't do it with your spouse standing there, it is cheating!"
xWW: Secret LTA w/ thrice married OM at her workplace; EA/PA starts ~ 2005-6 Files & completes D - 2007, OM/OMW#3 D - 2007, Affairage - immediately thereafter Disappears in 2006 w/o even a goodbye to anyone, Never a paragraph of real truth ever spoken Me/xBH: M "for life", Suspicions (denied) & desperate Plan A latter-half '06 1st D-day 1/07, full truth D-day 7/08 (all via 3rd parties) NC w/ xWW 8/08-date, better off w/o unrepentant vileness, betrayal, & rampant deceit in my life anymore

That's pretty good advice....
- If you wouldn't do it with your mom standing there
- If you wouldn't do it with your dad standing there
- If you wouldn't do it with your child standing there
- If you wouldn't do it with your neighbor standing there
- If you wouldn't do it with your minister standing there
and on and on and on and on

I didn’t see the show. The “over the top” characterizations that are so common to shows like his mostly seem crafted for the entertainment business. Dr. Phil has done very nice for himself financially with that recipe. Yet beneath it all Dr. Phil is an extremely talented communicator. He is a gifted psychologist that understands the dynamics of marriage and relationships. It seems to me that he understands the mechanics of affairs, what they are and how to recover from one. As a matter of fact, his philosophy in this area seems to be very similar to that of Marriage Builders in a great many respects.

I guess no one else watched this segment. Anywho - this is the part I wanted to discuss with anyone else who'd seen it Libbie learned that Matthew wrote a contract and gave it to his mistress. Dr. Phil reads the document. “It reads as follows, ‘I want you, only you. I’m not going to have sex with Libbie. I can’t give you 100 percent of me at this time, and I don’t know when I can, but I promise you, I will not sleep with her. I do love you, and I want to be with you. We will be together,’ and it was signed by [Matthew]. The note to the mistress - which the TV show called "a contract". I want you.Only you.I'm not going to have sex with BW.I can't give you 100% at this timeI don't know when I canbut I promise you I won't sleep with herI do love youI want to be with youWe will be togetherYa'll know how much I just love a good WS bullcrap document. The "sincerity" of it. The emotional heaving of it. The liars promises. Only the stupid would go for such drivel (or is that dribble ) These are the written to the immature OWs, who later write on the adultery partner forums ... "I balled my eyes out" complaining with outrage "He said he loved me." It is this sort of "contract" between liars that keeps the adulterous other woman forums clacking and ooooozing feelings over "my MM" ... "Oh you're so lucky. My MM has never made me a written promise like that." BTW - Dr Phil and any other TV performer is just that, a TV performer. As Dr Phil likes to say: "How's that working for ya?" .... He'd say "Quite nicely , thank you."

He asks Matthew, “Why did you do that?”
“She was getting so jealous of Libbie, and she wanted me to write something out to prove that I was dedicated to her,” he says.
“Did you mean this?” Dr. Phil asks, holding up the contract.
“I didn’t mean that,” Matthew says.
“You lied to your wife both by omission and constructively. You lied to the person you were cheating with,” Dr. Phil says.
“It was pretty devastating to everybody involved,” Matthew says. “I was more so trying to protect my career.” The OW is jealous of the wife. The OW is jealous of the wife. The OW is jealous of the wife.

Like I said, I didn’t see the show but I read the transcript (so I could give you an “at-least” semi-intelligent reply).
So, I read Mathew’s letter of devotion to his mistress. It is all such a big bag of mushy crap; lies upon lies, deception within deception. For me, such stuff has become comical to read, so absurd it is. I can almost envision Leslie Neilson playing the part of Mathew (i.e. The Naked Gun).
“Jane, since I've met you I've noticed things that I never knew were there before, birds singing, dew glistening on a newly formed leaf, stoplights.” (Lt. Frank Drebin, The Naked Gun).

AJ told OW the truth, that he was still having SF with me. "Of COURSE I'm still having sex with her - she's my wife!" OW: I know it must have been hard for you to know that we were together, just as it was hard for me knowing he went home to you every night and you slept together. And there was no written "contract", but a certain amount of whining nonetheless. OW: And as far as the relationship between AJ and I being "sleazy" or "unpleasant", nothing could be further from the truth. AJ and I made promises and plans for the future, together. The sooner the you accept that and your part in it, the sooner you and AJ MAY be able to move forward. AJ to this day says that he told her over and over again that he couldn't make any promises - that he didn't know what was going to happen or how it would turn out, who he was going to be with, etc. etc. etc. That may be so, but I can also easily believe that he made false promises that were so fleeting in his mind that he had no later recollection of them. And there were SO MANY MANY MANY lies he told her during that time, it would be hard to keep track of them all, anyway. Imagine that! A liar lying...a cheater cheating....shocking!
