My fiance and I have been working through Dr. Farley's book "I promise" in our marriage counseling... We have a wonderful pastor doing our ceremony but all of us are at a loss at how we could tie these specific promises that we are commiting to one another into our vows. We still want our vows to be somewhat traditional but with these principles incorporated... If anyone has any suggestions they would be appreciated.

Congratulations on reading Dr. Harley's "I Promise". You don't know how many people here wished that they had read the book BEFORE the marriage go into trouble.

I'm not sure how to incorporate into vows, but am so happy that the two of you both realize how important it is to start out working on a marriage, instead of just trusting in "happily ever after".

Thanks, I wish I could take all the credit for finding that book but like I said, we have a great pastor marrying us and he actually introduced us to Dr. Harley's material. We have really enjoyed the book.

So, what are the specific promises? Tell us and we will try to help you.
