It's on it's way. It's a rather small, Art Deco replica (from a 1922 Cartier design), decorative platinum band with an asscher cut sapphire center stone. Like I said, it's small and a bit less expensive than either of the two rings I bought my XW (because she accidentally flushed her first one down the toilet). But Jill picked it out and said that it was the one she wanted, so who am I to argue? I have to say, I am really grateful for the fact that she's low maintenance w/re to jewelry. I purchased it from an online jeweler out of NY who specializes in antique replicas. He has a 30 day refund guarantee in case Jill doesn't actually like it in person as much as she did in photos. Anyway, Happy Friday.

So cool and so romantic! And if that's what she wants, I'm sure she'll be happy. This is yet another case where size doesn't matter!

I have a couple of close friends who're Cajun. I'm afraid that any bachelor party they throw me will look like a Hunter S. Thompson book. "Fear and Loathing in H-town".

Hey all - sorry for the late reply. No ring yet. I wasn't here to sign for it on Friday, and the mailman didn't redeliver on Saturday. Hopefully I'll have it tomorrow.
*sigh*

It may not be possible for everyone to do so, but I have everything I order delivered to my work address where there is always someone available to sign for things. It works like a charm for me.

I do that as well Dutch. Only thing is, I wasn't sure that I was going to be employed here for sure up until about 30 minutes ago.
My dept completed our round of layoffs today. I survived, thankfully.

I talked to more than 50-people this weekend and everyone is deadly concerned by the economy and some of my friends an neighbors have been laid off. I will not get on a soapbox here but things are really bad, as almost anyone is aware, and I pray that we'll reverse course at some point.

Around here, upper management said that there will only be one round of layoffs. Some of what I witnessed is what might be impolitely termed "dead weight". That, plus oil prices appear to be ticking up. If we can get back around $60 a barrel within the next few months, I'll feel a LOT better. For the moment, I feel a bit safer.

Oh boy, it's leeeeeeeetle! It looks like the kind of ring a 19 yr old kid trying out for an assistant manager position at a movie theater might buy his GF.
Okay, maybe it's not that small, but it's pretty petite. I'm going to take it over to her tonight for the yea or nay. If she likes it and decides that's the one she wants, I certainly won't complain.

Sorry for the slow response. I've been laid up sick with a stomach bug for the last couple of days. I'll spare everyone the gory details...
Anyway, she loved the setting and the color of the sapphire, but just as I figured, she was a little disappointed with size of the stone. She acted sheepishly when she admitted to wanting something a little larger. She was afraid that she was being too vain. I reassured her that I understood and that a larger stone is within my budget. Frankly, I was a little surprised when she picked it out in the first place. So I'm trying to reach the jeweler about sending it back and having a larger sapphire mounted. We agreed that something about .25%-.33% larger would be nice without overwhelming the ring.
Something that did kind of throw me for a loop was when she asked, "Okay, now what about a band?"
Huh?
I know that some engagement rings come as a set with a band, but not all do. And the ring she picked is rather ornate and doesn't have a matching band. I also had to explain to her that while a larger stone is within my budget, a matching platinum band with the same ornamentation would break the bank. She understood and I offered to get her something in a year or two. She really just wants the band to wear when she's on a job site.

What's going on with your ring(s)? Size doesn't matter, but bigger is always better, except in a mortgage payment.
