Hi everyone SugarCane suggested I post here to see if any of you that have experience of depression/ bi-polar could have a look at my thread on Recovery and give some input. H has always had bouts of depression. STs Recovery Thread Thank you ST

I'm no expert but I've heard that one of the symptoms of bi-polar is that when they get treatment/help, they start feeling better, then they quit because they're feeling better. Then the cycle continues. :crosseyedcrazy: Sorry, but any physical violence is a no-no.  There is NEVER a reason for that. I'm so sorry about your mom, I hope she recovers fully. Seems like you've got a lot on your plate right now and H isn't helping.

st, I know that there are many people on these boards who have lived with depressed/bp family members. I do hope that a few more will help you either here or on your Recovery thread. I think that your H's periods of savage moods in which he cannot be approached are bad for you and the children. I don't think that post-affair recovery can make much progress while these cycles continue.
I know that some doctors and patients have success in treating depression with exercise, therapy and other strategies, and it seems that your GP preferred to do this, perhaps before trying drugs.
I don't know, however, whether bi-polar disease (if this is what it is) can be treated without drugs. Do other people know?
