orn yesterday, totally healthy baby boy - just as cute as his dad was (my son Sam). Anyway, the GF did not change her mind, she signed all the papers and refused to see the baby. I did go into make sure she was feeling ok this morning and she seems relieved and is recovering well. Now the hard part starts for Sam. Grandpa Gabe

Thanks,
It would take a baseball bat to wipe the smile off my face. It has been a long time since I would just realize I am just happy, I'm sure real life will get me again but for now we are celebrating.

Very cool - I will be a 49 yo grandpa here within the next month. Father of child doesnt want anything to do with it and may be back in Mexico. He is a drug dealer - great guy.
Meanwhile - other grandmother wants to bring the baby down to Mexico next summer to visit that side - over my Italian-Irish [censored] that will happen.

Major major major kudos and high-fives to you and your son!!! A really good friend of mine became a single dad when his GF didn't want to be a mother... but she did have the gumption to do what it took for nine months and then sign over all rights to my friend. I'm really glad that your son's GF did likewise.
Congratulations on this blessing that has been added to your family!

I'll take that 49 yo g'pa and match it with a 35 yo g'ma. Baby's papa is a 23 yo drop kick, drop out, criminal with MS. My DD BTW has just turned 17. Other g'ma is in hospital dying of lung disease and still smoking.

Wow - 35yo gma
I still feel like I am young - dont feel nor really look like a guy turning 50.
What's cool about it is that I now have the money resources that I didnt have with my 3 kids. Wife feels more relieved also. No decision on what we will do for paternity.
Altho it seems the new baby equipment that I am putting together is more complicated nowadays. My 17 dtr is the youngest. Her high school in a north Dallas suburb has had already 25 births this school year. Incredible statistic. There have been over 90 births in the school district.

Hi 6,
Congrats on being a Grandpa. I figure I will be in my late 60's before I become a Grandpa. Sort of looking forward to it. Although I was a new father at 42. Oh Well. I glad the baby is healthy, and the legal aspects of this are sorted out.
I feel sorry for the GF. I know what she is doing makes sense now, but I doubt that it will in about 10 years or so.
God Bless,
JL

I'm not excited....you go shaking your thing with your fwb. You say you don't care who your children shake their things with if their adults.....and your son ends up with this baby. Yeah...that's like really great.

cinderella,
You have to remember that 6 years was faithful to his WW for 10 years after her A. And divorced her before becoming involved with fwb.
The fwb is recent, happened after his DS and gf got pg.
Let's not make such hasty judgements.
I don't believe 6's kids and family know about fwb.
6 has done his best to be a good example.
Best wishes 6.
Love in Christ, Miss M

...And I can see your smile from here, 6YL. All the best to your son, your grandson, and to you. Prayers for the mother of your grandson as well. May she be at peace with her decision. Best wishes! P.S. Based on my experience, consider investing in burping cloths/blankets. One can never have enough of those around when a baby is in the vacinity.

This is a happy, congratulatory thread! Actually, I think the first few posts made it a "who's story is more dysfunctional" thread.

Hi in response to GGirl,
I am still staying with Sam and helping with the baby (little Gabe) until next wednesday. Then Sam's grandparents are coming in shifts for the next 4 weeks. He is very appreciative of all the help and is starting to get the hang of things.
Gabe
