Hi Jayne, I can't look at pictures at work (banned sites), so I just now saw the pictures. They're so pretty! Is it a German Shepherd? That's my favorite; they just seem so much smarter than other dogs, you know? Congratulations!

He jayne, sorry for the late reply... I've been down and out for a few days with a bad case of butt-spew-idous.

Hi y'all!

Thanks for asking for an update. Things are going pretty good. I still wish we had more "intimacy" in our M, and he still has some LBs but I don't feel as resentful at the moment. I think in large part because of the major major major LB$ deposits he made by going along with getting a dog. And him coming on here to "defend" me, too! That made me very happy.

We've been quite busy with FC time, especially on weekends but often there's some Boy Scout activity on either Tues. or Thurs. evening too. DH has even tolerated my putting my arm around him in public. And I've bragged about him several times to other people for various things, including in front of him. I think that made LB$ deposits. Also I was a bit more adventurous than usual in the SF department, which he really seemed to enjoy! *blush* Long story... and I might change my mind about it being TMI later, and won't be able to edit... so we'll just leave it at that.

Brags: Saturday was the Boy Scout Pinewood Derby. The kids had been so excited, it was all we could do to keep them from wrecking their kits by trying to make them before we were given all the instructions. So the day of the event, we went to the local school where it was being held, and wowza!!! Boy howdy, some folks really take this seriously! There was a *very* official weigh-in and measuring when you registered, and there was some guys who would drill holes and add molten lead if you wanted to get closer to the limit of 5... 5 grams? Sheesh you think I'd know what units they were using. Anyway, you wanted to get as close to 5 as possible without going over.

At first we said we were ok with our weights, but watching other ppl, I asked the kids and DH were we sure we didn't wanna add some weight? The kids decided to add some weight. Guess what? DS7a ended up weighing 5.00!!!!!!! And DS7b weighed in at 4.98!!!

Ok so after all the "Friends and Family" races, and the Corporate races, finally the Scouts themselves started racing. DS7b was up first, and I was so very proud of DS7a who really cheered him on. When 7b won, 7a was jumping all around shouting "He won! he won!" He was so very happy for him!

Unfortunately, DS7a didn't win. He came in 2nd, and 3rd, and 4th, and 2nd again. Each race was held 4 times, with 4 contestants, each car getting to take a turn in each of the "lanes" in case one lane was better than another.

I felt so bad for DS7a, especially since he'd been so happy for his brother. I guess it was a lesson in how life isn't always fair.

But guess what... DS7b didn't just win that heat, and he didn't just win amongst the 4 cars he raced... he had the best total time of all the Tiger Scouts!!!!!!!! That means he goes on to the Regionals!!!!!!!

I'm really happy it turned out that way, even if DS7a felt a little dejected. DS7b struggles more with self-esteem, he thinks that his brother is always better at things than he is. And unfortunately, a lot of times it does seem that DS7a gets more of the lucky breaks. So if one of them *had* to win it all, it's prolly best that it was 7b instead of 7a.

Boy it's tough having twins. You can't just simply be happy your kid won something or did something great, if it means the other one *didn't*. Like when they had their very very first soccer game of their whole entire lives... Well, ya know there's only one soccer ball in play, and only one person can have the first goal... so 7a made the very first goal of the very first game of their very first season of their whole entire lives. Now, 7b made the very second goal, even before anyone else on the team made a goal, but that still pretty much ruined soccer for the season for 7b. Yes of course I told him that an assist is also important, and that everyone on the team helps; and yes he should learn about good sportsmanship. But still he was only 5 years old, and he felt bad.

Anyway, that's why I'm glad that if one of them *had* to win it all, then I'm glad it was DS7b.

Among other news, last weekend was the warmest weekend so far this year. It got up into the 70's Fahrenheit. DS7a and I took the dog for a long hike exploring in the National Forest, then DS7b helped me try to bathe her. That was Saturday and Sunday. Then Monday a snowstorm blew in, we got I don't know how many feet of snow but the roads still aren't plowed, school and work's been canceled yesterday and today, and DH was running his Big Red Toy (brand new ATV with snowplow) until about 9 pm last night, and then this morning the only way you could tell he'd done anything was because the driveway was only a half-foot or so deep as opposed to 2-3 feet deep.

He's been plowing this afternoon until it finally ran out of gas a few minutes ago and he still isn't to the road! But like I said, the road isn't plowed anyway. There were Skidoos on the road earlier today.

So we've had plenty of FC time again. We took some pics of the dog playing in the snow. By the time the kids were bundled up enough to go outside, the camera was full up so I gotta wait for DH to empty some pics. Anyway, here's pics of the dog at our house:

Wow, jayne, thanks for the update! I thought it was pretty cool at the time that your H came here, I wish under different circumstances. Did he like what he saw at the board in general?

Hi guys...

Hmm, I just noticed that someone named "NewEveryDay" posted to me, in the spot where I thought ears' post used to be. skeptical J/K! New name? I like it!

Ok so y'all are clamoring for an update, I'll give ya an update! Well maybe I'll practice some restraint, some of that keeping conversations to a reasonable length, and do a partial update now and then come back later tonight to finish. Y'all think I can be brief??? skeptical

So, as far as the marriage goes, I don't feel much intimacy but just about everything else is going wonderfully. No, I don't mean to sound sarcastic - I mean, almost no AOs, we both are pretty much careful to not hurt each other and to consider each other's feelings... compared to some of the other stuff I read here, I'm really lucky. He works, he makes money, he picks up the slack with the childcare when I can't, he cooks, he cleans, he keeps the computers and cars running smoothly, and he does the bill-paying paperwork and the taxes. What more could I ask for?

(A little conversation, that's what - that's what would promote a *feeling* of intimacy for me - but I do admit that at this point in my life, having a husband who can be relied upon in all the ways just mentioned, is worth a lot.)

But for what I should be working on wrt the marriage, is probably the intimacy. I still have several prepaid appointments with Steve. I've been waiting, hoping DH would change his mind and participate, but if he doesn't agree to by the end of the semester, I'm going to call Steve just myself.

But, O/T, I have some really exciting news! DH has been very supportive of getting the dog, and has been taking pictures and even helped out some by taking care of her, especially when I was out of town for 2 days.

But the most exciting part is, I went to my first dog show a couple days ago, and took her, and she did really really well! In her class (12-18 month old females) there were 43 entries, and she placed 8th!!!

hurray dance2 hurray

There were some very nice b!tches in there too, from all over the country (U.S.) and even Canada. There were dogs there from Germany even. This was a show at the national/international level, and I was very pleased that she placed in the top ten in her class. I think I've got the bug now. crazy

Jayne, have I told you how cool it is to see you getting happier and happier? Congrats on all the good stuff going on in your marriage!

And I also noticed, that the growth opprtunity was described with NO DJs! Ain't nothing you can't accomplish with a winning attitude like that smile Especially with Steve in your family's corner! And so much success to build on!

And congrats on the dog show, too!

Thanks ears!

No I hadn't realized the lack of DJs... well I guess in a way, I was conscious of being careful to word things in a way that was honoring DH's separateness as a human being that doesn't necessarily think the same way I do, and that has his own unique and valuable qualities... and that it isn't his fault if his weakness happens to coincide with my favorite EN.

But even if Convo is my favorite EMOTIONAL need... I was thinking, ya know, I have some other very important, um, ACTUAL needs? PHYSICAL needs? I don't mean SF... I mean, him paying the bills and the taxes is a real-life non-emotional need. Not to downplay emotional needs, not in the least. I'm the first to admit that the emotional stuff is what promotes a feeling of intimacy *to me* at least. But even if I don't *feel* *intimate* with DH, it's still pretty neat that he keeps me outa jail by taking care of bills and taxes, ya know? wink

So I guess in a way, being careful to word things in the way you and LA have taught me is becoming second nature. And I'd like to go on record as saying, yes, watching and changing my language has led to an actual change in my attitude and in the atmosphere of our M.

I highly recommend it to anyone reading. wink

I’m glad you like the name change! My ears are still open, because I learn so much from you all. But I really feel like a burden has been lifted from my shoulders. I don’t have to *keep* paying for my mistakes, by being miserable. I can make amends by making new choices today, like choosing my attitude.
