Sorry, we are going to dinner with friends tonight. Outback. We will think of you while we are eating cheese-covered fake Australian food.
But I gave you my sausage recipe yesterday!

ha ha! Outback is an occasional guilty pleasure of ours too. Almost always regret with the too-tight pants afterward.

My wife made tacos last night... slow cooked pork shoulder marinated in orange juice/zest and chipotle pepper, then crisped in the oven. I made guacamole to go with the cilantro and scallion garnish... oh and lemon-marinated red onions. For desert she teamed up with the kids to make apple pizza - giant cookie for the crust, then cream cheese mixed with caramel for the sauce, then sliced apples drizzled in more caramel.

Was that the one where it got turned into soup?

You're both invited to come to my place to cook ANYTIME!

I desperately need to go grocery shopping but was able to scrounge up some cheese and spinach tortellini for dinner. Not great, not terrible.

Well at least it has veges in it.

I dunno you'll have to fight with duckie over that.....he just scarfed the rest of the cheese bread with a healthy helping of sauce. He LOVES my garlic cheese bread.

So the company that was coming over FLAKED....that would be my best friend and her boyfriend.....and that has happened a bit to much for me over the last year...I am a bit fed up. Apparently they were having an argument and she was upset and didn't want to come over. Of course she tells me all this 10 mins before they were supposed to be here AFTER I cooked all the food.
How nice of them.

yup!

We had a bloomin' onion at OUtback, I had a little buffalo chicken and some veggies but brought most home. I won't tattle on Chewie, but our hosts, old friends who are also his patients, thought his choices very amusing (witness the blooming onion) and plan on using them to embarrass him later. Our hosts behaved admirably with their choices. In fact, Chewie was the only guilty eater in the crowd.

LOL @ Chewie

and we had the wrong kind of sausages for soup.

Tomato Sausages

precook your sausages. Roughly chop an onion and fry in a little olive oil until tender. Add sausages cut into rings (about 5 to a sausage) a tin (or can for you foreigners) of tomatoes,a couple of crushed garlics, and basil to taste. If you have it and you want, a couple of tablespoons of tomato paste can be added. Cook for a few minutes, then serve over mashed potatoes, with steamed brocoli

Tonight is Impossibly Easy Cheeseburger Pie by Bisquick. It's nice because I will be able to eat off this for two day, for sure!

1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1 large onion, chopped (1 cup)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 oz)
1/2 cup Original Bisquick® mix
1 cup milk
2 eggs
(I also add mushrooms)

Total Time: 10 min1. Heat oven to 400°F. Spray 9-inch glass pie plate with cooking spray.
2. In 10-inch skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is brown; drain. Stir in salt. Spread in pie plate. Sprinkle with cheese.
3. In small bowl, stir remaining ingredients with fork or wire whisk until blended. Pour into pie plate.
4. Bake about 25 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
High Altitude (3500-6500 ft): Bake 30 to 35 minutes.

Mmm that sounds good!

Tonight we are having dinner for breakfast. Omelets with diced ham, onions, green peppers, cheddar cheese (pepper jack for me), and tomatoes (and a little jalapeno in there for Ike), fried potatoes (marinated in worcestershire sauce and onions), and homemade biscuits.

I whisk my eggs with heavy cream before putting in the pan. Any other, "healthier" ideas? The cream makes them so fluffy and tasty!

Bisquik is a dry dough mix that comes in a box (about the size/shape of a cereal box.) You measure it out and add milk to make what we call biscuits (like your scones, only fluffy and lighter) or pie crust or impossible pies, which are an easy quiche-type dish.

What I'd really like to have for dinner tonight is a breakfast dish that a local restaurant has called Salmon Scramble. Ingredients are:

3 eggs
1/4 cup heavy cream
sliced red onion
chive cream cheese
fresh chive
smoked salmon

Crack the eggs into a bowl and whisk with the heavy cream. Cook until wet but not set. Fold in the onion, salmon and chive cream cheese. Cook another minute and plate.

Sadly I have only eggs and none of the other stuff. Bummer!

2 tbspn sugar
1/2 tbspn margarine

mix and microwave for 2 mins

delicious, crunchy crispy sort of burnt sugary choc yumminess, cook for less time if you don't want it so chewy and crunchy

Who likes cooking with wine!

And I don't mean drinking it while you cook...I know you were thinking that you lush ... ;p

I love making my italian sauages sauteed in white zinfindel blush with garlic salt and pepper...and it smells so good when it's cooking.
