but the weirdest(though not sure i believe it) reader comment was:

After my divorce in 1983, I was completely convinced that marriage is not only expensive, but a complete waste of time. Why would anyone desire a monogamous relationship? Sex with the same person until I die seems rather boring. After 8 years of this in marriage, I was bored...but forvere? Now I enjoy intimate relationships with 12 people. They all enjoy other friend with benefits relationships as well. No harm, no foul. I am just friends with these folks, nothing serious. And I will never, and I mean never get serious with anyone. When I want to enjoy some hot sex, someone is always available. Why we as a society have tolerated one spouse/partner at a time completely baffles me. I am a teacher and have been sharing with all my students for years how silly a marriage really is; they are encouraged to enjoy many friends with benefits for a more satisfying life!

not sure I really believe this. . .

Learning from your own mistakes creates experience, learning from books creates knowledge, combining the two together creates wisdom => You start with a full bag of luck, and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

If all you want is sex, this is one way to go. I don't know if it's the best way - doesn't seem much less risky than hiring prostitutes - but if it makes you feel better.

As much as my marriage turned out to be a sham (he was a lyin', cheatin' piece o' $$$$), I got more out of it than this. I have deeper, more fulfilling relationships with my girlfriends and coworkers than I could have in this scenario. There is way more to any relationship, especially one as complex as marriage, than just sex on demand. But that's just me.

Consider the source, everyone. It's the Boston Globe.
