I'm toe-curling content, SS.

We did get snow in the mountains. Rain here in town.

It's always nice to see rain. Not for me, I have seen rain in my lifetime, but for the kids. I want the kids to know what rain is.

HELLLO!!!

I popped on to see if Tiger Woods would be a HUGE topic of discussion.

I am glad to see he is not.

How have I been? GREAT!

I made a Green Lantern costume for Halloween.
My DSs are all doing GREAT!
I am no longer shackled to a dysfunctional individual - though she still sometimes calls for help.

I gotta tell ya. I REALLY wanted to work out my marriage when I was going through it. But 5? 6? years later? I am SO glad it ended. I don't think we would ever be equal partners.

Hugs and kisses to you all!

For the 39-1/2 years that I have been married, I have always wanted to decorate the outside our our house with lights and stuff for Christmas. I don't care so much for the blow-up stuff, but I wanted our house to look classy and cheerful.

Lord Clueless is the ultimate Scrooge. He doesn't care about any kind of Christmas decor.

The most I've ever done is to hang lighted garlands with a wreat hanging on them across the two double windows facing the driveway, put the wreath on the door, and put a few lights on the bushes under the windows. Haven't done that for the past 7-8 years or so due to lack of time. Now, I'm not working and I WANT to put them up again, but with my arthritic hip and knee (and my propensity for falling nowadays), I'm kinda thinking that I might oughta stay off a ladder!

Since my son remarried 6 years ago, our family Christmas has been screwed up because my DiL only has an hour or two to spare from being over at HER folks, who live a whopping 3 miles from us. As a result, nobody except our son wants to sit down and eat Christmas supper with us because they are full from stuffing themselves full of junk at her mother's, and it's all about "hurry up and open the presents so we can leave". Compromise doesn't work, as everything has to be worked around what HER family's plans are. frown

Now, MY family holiday celebration is also changed, as my 93yo mom is now in assisted living, so no more Christmases at Big Mama's house. Instead, we're all going out to eat at a catfish place on Thursday night.

Ho, ho, ho.

I am SO not in the Christmas spirit! I only have a few gifts to wrap so far, and haven't even STARTED on the things I want to make.

Not to mention...I wanted to set up a tree with my Christmas village in it. This involves using a tree that can have every other layer of branches removed. I have my old tree that will work, only my H either lost or threw away the base and the bottom part of the pole to it! AAAARGH!

I will cook and my H, DD, maybe her son, and I will have Christmas dinner. Four of us, instead of the ten of us that it should be! I hope DGS#3 is up to making enough noise for the other 4 grandkids!

hurray Hi SS, good to hear from you!

Kimmy, an inflatable M&M couple, too? Where will it end? faint

Lady C, good luck with the outdoor decorating. AJ wants to put up some lights, but I think he's waiting for warmer weather, lol.

NC Walker, SO GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU!!!!!!!!! Glad you are doing well and as sassy as ever.

Here in honor of a dear, anonymous friend who has had such trouble with bread yeast, is a lol from Neaksis. Bad Yeast

>Where will it end?

It's not going to end Neak. It's never going to end. crybaby

We went driving around looking at lights with the kids and one yard had a whole Precious Moments manger scene - all hand done. It was too cute and sweet for color tv.

The Wookie turned to me and said we can chuck the Santa's candy shop scene (that's what our yard is) and if I draw the templates and paint he'll do the wood work and lighting next year. faint

Before all of this *I* wanted a manger scene but got outvoted by the mini-majority and their Hairy Leader. Hairy Leader cajoled me saying that it's for the kids and when they move out (like that's one the horizon - pft) I can have what *I* want.

It's a cause for justifiable homicide, that's what it is.

NCW did you see the Punkin Chunkin on the Science Channel during Thanksgiving? Couldn't see the ad without thinking of you and your boys.

LadyC, there is actually a light up sign in our yard that says Scrooge Lives Here. My neighbor's kid pointed out that our yard was anything but Scroogey.

Anyway, there's pics on FB for those who want to see.

He's already thought of that, Neak.

Two of the houses last night had the machine hooked to their lights that twinkle the lights in time to MUSIC.

He says NEXT YEAR he's buying that gizmo - I'd talked him out of it this year.

NCW and lady C good to hear from you... the Christmas cheer will appear I am sure.

SS it's good to know nothing.... you can come work for the public service .. we specialise in that grin

Kimmy you gotta let that man have some toys ... and a HUGE shed with lots of "things" in it.

Neak do your sheets freeze on the line? I know it's off Xmas subject but I always wondered. think Anyway are you going to get a white Xmas do you think????

I woke up about 4 am today.. leap out of bed looking for my cricket bat .. some noise woke me... as my blurred mind cleared I realise it was this bloke next to me in bed .... Aussie was snoring not... badly but enough to disturb me ... he and Jonny have slight cold like nasal symptoms ... anyway I was up so I thought I'd go get a drink and then go back to bed ... poor dog was looking at me reproachfully .... coming from the other end of the house was another snoring chainsaw ... I'm sure the dog would have put it's paws over its ears if it could have.
I went looking for those foam earplugs I wear to Liz's concerts ... so much better ... what did you say ?? what??? laugh
We actually slept in to 9am loveheart

then the tornado hit the room faint ... daddy daddy daddy
daddy daddy daddy daddy daddy daddy daddy daddy daddy ..plays with me.. NOW!! ,, Mummy... I'm 'ung-ry ... good to see he's clear on the service delivery aspect of the household MrRollieEyes

My Wookie snores so bad that when he's NOT there it keeps me up.

Do you guys have a nighttime med called TheraFlu there? It does WONDERS for snoring (but only if no one has been drinking...drinking snores are incurable I think).

Kimmy, I actually HAVE one of those machines, left over from when I closed my store in October. IF I get my garlands up (still debating whether to get up on a ladder or not) and get lights on my shrubbery on the end of the house, I might just hook 'em up to that machine. I gave one machine to my son, but I don't think he's put his lights up yet. However, given his desire to out-do the folks where he lives, I figure that he'll eventually get it up and going. One of his friends put up lights all over his house this year, so I'm sure DS will have to out-do him!

As for my blue funk that I have goin' on, I finally did what I always do when my blue funks get bad enough. I CUT OFF MY HAIR! I got it really SHORT, too!

I think I have turned into Scrooge, and I need to rein Scrooge in, cuz right now, Scrooge wants to tell a few people off! Which is, of course, a terrible idea and would accomplish exactly nothing! frown

That's much better than the one with Santa peeing a stream of lights off the roof!

D-D,

I did see Punkin' Chunkin'. It's cool. But I think if I had the money to build something like that, I'd donate it to a worthy cause. My chunker is big enough to be fun, but small enough to be reasonable.

Watched it with mom, now SHE has the bug, so we plan on attending in 2010.

Personally, my light show is pretty reserved. We are all Halloween crazy at the Walker house. Having said that, mom promptly slaved me out to all the neighborhood women to put up THEIR lights. So decorations I OWN - meh. But decorations I DID - ROCK!

Note: on the second picture, that extra-dark strip around the scratch is iodine. Whew!
