You have to watch to the end. It left me undecided whether to gasp in amazement or weep in dismay...the only way I'd ever get MY legs that far apart is if they were tied to a couple of horses pulling in opposite directions. And I wouldn't be taking any bows when I was done, either! This lady is 32 years older than I am, and she is WAY out of my league. BTW, her dancing partner is her 29-year old great-grandson.
OMG! I'm early 50's and I couldn't do that NOW! That's amazing!
Widowed 11/10/12 after 35 years of marriage ********************* “In a sense now, I am homeless. For the home, the place of refuge, solitude, love-where my husband lived-no longer exists.” Joyce Carolyn Oates, A Widow's Story
I guess this video clip doesn't actually give her age. It's 92, which means she's only 30 years older than I am. Like that makes it any better!!!!!!!!!!
Just wanted you to know that this video totally cheered me. I have trained in dance my whole life so I really apprecite her skills. It is clear that she dances from her heart. It's my new favorite! Before it was the Ferri/Sting video as I love ballet. maybe it's a close tie for me. Anyway, thank you for the pick up.
Here is my other fav (although not quite as amazing)...

OMG, I am 44yrs old and I can still do the splits but I just can't lift my legs up in the air like that. That was fantastic and made my day!

Very beautiful video. Ferri's feet are just out of this world ! Her core is rock solid ! Non dancers are usually fixated on the dancer's leg extension, while those with dance training focus on the feet and the back and the arms.
Did you notice the art direction of this video ? Once the "performance" begins, everything but Sting is black and white. Sting is flesh colored with blue eyes. He's flesh and blood and she is like a dream or his imagination of his music come to life.
OK, this is weird. I just watched the youtube video I posted, and it is not the one I saw. The music is different, and I don't know how it was for you, but for me the action was kinda jerky. The one I got by email attachment was from the original performance, with the music that was actually played. You can hear the old lady talk to the crowd, and all the applause and cheers. It's my opinion that it's a significantly better quality video than this one.
However, I can only figure out how to send it by email, so if any of you want to see it as it was actually performed, music and all, please email me at sportkanga@yahoo.com, and I'll send you the attachment, which plays for me on Windows media player. It is virus-free.
This lady's name is Paddy Jones, and she hails from the town next to mine in the UK , Stourbridge.
She moved to spain and her H died when she was 70, she took up serious salsa. She became so good she partnered with her instructor ( now 40, not her grandson) and toured the world winnoing competitions.
They won the " Spain's Got Talent" TV contest in July 2009 when she was 75.

Nope, Bob Pure, if she's only 75 I'm no longer impressed! And I have to say I like the original age and relationship better. A person is certainly at the mercy of the story that comes with the video, and the great-grandson is a part of every one that I saw. Well, until you published your correction, anyway!
Now that you gave a name, I was able to google a bunch of places that talk about it, so I'll just take my shattered illusions and my deflated impressions off here to a corner and sulk. 75, INDEED!
