I started watching the Vikings in 1968. Still remember watching the '69 NFL Championship title win against Cleveland at my Grampas on his black and white console TV. The screen was about 9" and the console the size of a couch.
Joe Kapp, the Viking's quarterback broke a Cleveland linebackers shoulder when he tried to tackle him that day. There's a great youtube on that.
Then the four Super Bowl losses. Arg. We're #2......once again
DD started to watch the games with me when she was about 3. During the games she would get her stuffed football and do running dives against my goal line stand to the "end zone" on the living room carpet.
She always scored. Everytime.
As she launched herself into my arms she would shout, "Herschel VIKING". That's what she thought his name was.
When the Favre circus started she called me from work and said, "How can we possible root for FAV-RAY after sixteen years of wanting to see him dismembered?"
She is coming over Sunday to watch the game with me. I could offer to do the Herschel VIKING thing again but she would probably break my shoulder.
It should be a good game.
