KaylaAndy, you can add Mississippi's Chip Pickering to your list. Pickering ditched his wife, FIVE children, and his congressional seat for the OW. sick

The ends of my hair catch fire every time I think of THAT cheating POS.

There have been thirty-five attempts at impeachment in the USA. Most resign rather than face impeachment... including Richard Nixon. Of the three presidents for whom the House Judiciary Committee has issued articles of impeachment, Nixon was the only one for whom the case of "high crimes and misdemeanors" would have been convincing enough -- and clearly had enough votes in the Senate -- to result in a conviction.

Add Obama appointee (to the economic recovery board) and co-president of Oracle software to the list...

He had an "8 1/2 year serious relationship" with an failing actress named YaVaughan though he was married in 1998 or so and has a 10 year old child. He filed for divorce in just 2008.

It appears he ended the affair and the OW took revenge by setting up a website and putting up billboards in NY, Atlanta and San Francisco. The website was filled with pictures of them together, karioke songs and love notes.

Appears YaVaughanie is quite the bunny-boiler....the jilted OW gets revenge.

Seems she set up the website www .charlesphillipsandyavaughniewilkins dot com but I couldn't get to it. Either I typed it wrong or it's been taken down.

Ok, Don't forget to add John F. Kennedy to the list.

Let me turn you all on to a poem my father carried with him from before WWII until his death. It is by Ogden Nash and clearly written in the 30's.

When he and some of his combat pilot buddies would have a few. cool They would start to recite poetry. His favorite was the one he carried all of his life.

It is entitled Four Prominate [censored] (old term for OC) Are We by Ogden Nash. You can now google it. I got it out the other day and reread it. Man is it appropriate for today.

I encourage all of you to read it. Ogden Nash has a wonderful way with words and yet it cuts like a knife.

So now let me get on my soap box for a moment. I am a firm believer that we need our politicians NERVOUS. We need close votes and we need some turn over. But Gerrymandering has all but removed this. People complain that congress is too partician (sp), but the reality is that congress especially the house is "safe" so there is no need for compromise and there isn't any.

Over a period of 3 elections in CA, there were 495 elections for statewide and national office. Five incumbants were replaced and only one election actually changed party. Over half the elections were won by more than a 50% margin.

Folks CA is not the only state the knows about GIS. The voter rolls are so detailed that they can draw districts down back alleys which is appropriate given the motivation behind these folks. Take a look are your states and realize when politicians are not challenged, mischief starts. When one party dominates, corruption is certain. I don't care which party.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

John Edwards was a very rich and powerful man and he thought he was above the normal expectations of "common folk". He has the child to prove it.

Just thoughts. I will now return you to your regularly scheduled programing.

JL

VERY PLAYFUL

Is quicker.

I think that I shall never see
A billboard lovely as a tree.
Indeed, unless the billboards fall
I'll never see a tree at all.

I often wonder which is mine:
Tolerance, or a rubber spine?

A girl who is bespectacled
She may not get her nectacled
But safety pins and bassinets
Await the girl who fassinets.

Progress might have been all right once, but it has gone on too long.

A Baseball poem:
C is for Cobb, Who grew spikes and not corn, And made all the basemen Wish they weren't born.
D is for Dean, The grammatical Diz, When they asked, Who's the tops? Said correctly, I is.
E is for Evers, His jaw in advance; Never afraid To Tinker with Chance.
F is for Fordham And Frankie and Frisch; I wish he were back With the Giants, I wish.
G is for Gehrig, The Pride of the Stadium; His record pure gold, His courage, pure radium.
H is for Hornsby; When pitching to Rog, The pitcher would pitch, Then the pitcher would dodge.
I is for Me, Not a hard-hitting man, But an outstanding all-time Incurable fan.'
Q is for Don Quixote Cornelius Mack; Neither Yankees nor years can halt his attack.

He's a priest.
The two-L llama,
He's a beast.
And I would bet
A silk pajama
There isn't any
Three-L lllama.

I look upon as a major calamity.
He throws open his nest with prodigality,
But I distrust his waspitality.

There may be more lines, but I learned it as:

A wondrous bird is the pelican;
His bill can hold more than his bellycan.
I wonder how in the hellican.

Well, JL, you're not alone. Turns out that the pelican "poem" is often "mistakenly attributed" to Ogden Nash, but was written by some other guy. There are 2 additional lines--"He holds in his beak, Enough food for a week", and then the last line is expanded slightly in a way that wouldn't pass the MB profanity filter. Still a funny, very old rhyme, isn't it?

Back to my primary point (sorry for misrepresenting impeachment history - needed more detail to finish the thought)...

My Main Point:

No Man or Woman will EVER rise to the full stature who abuses their marriage vows. John Edwards will never be a devoted husband in the eyes of the public ever again. Bill Clinton neither. Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani, and the countless ego-driven politicians of all parties and all levels of government and corporate ladders.

John Edwards is a fraction of the man with Rielle Hunter as he was with Elizabeth Edwards. And history shows that this is a statistic you can take to the bank. McCain is an anomaly in that he cheated before he came to power. But it doesn't make his crime against his marriage any less vile than infidelity by anyone else. And had he been faithful and developed his character instead of his political climbing, who knows what he could have become.

The minute infidelity enters into someone's life, for the unfaithful party, the trend is ALWAYS doomed to go downward.

Reille aspired to have a man of importance, but since she's a woman of unimportance, and decided that stealing another woman's "important" husband was easier than building a man of character from scratch like Elizabeth did, that's the man she got - he fell to her level.
