So now we know who is going to get to play in the big game and I'm sure everyone has a prediction or more likely a predilection, but I want to take this opportunity to share a joke with y'all.

Three guys from Bimiji died and found themselves in hell. The first day they were there, the devil went down to check on them. The temperature was 125 degrees and as the devil looked in on them he found them standing over a charcoal grill cooking brats wearing mukluks, beaver hats and down vests.

"Aren't you guys hot enough?" he asked.

"Oh, hey dere," said one. Well yanno, it can get pretty warm in Minnesota in da summertime and ya jus' have t' take advantage when you get da chance."

So on the way out the devil turned the thermostat up several degrees.

When he came back a couple of days later he found them wearing their beaver hats and mukluks but now wearing swimming trunks.

"What's with you guys?" He aksed them.

"Well," said the one trying to light the grill with gasoline, "it is pretty hot down here, but after all dem years in the cold winters we get upnorth, it's kinda nice for a change."

As the devil left he realized that it was the COLD that they hated the most. So he turned down the heat and cranked the AC on full blast, waited a few days and went to see how the boys from Bimiji were doing. As he approached where they were being held it got colder and colder. Icicles hung from everything. It was so cold that it looked like a scene from "Ice Station Zebra."

He opened the door and was flabbergasted to find them running around in their beaver hats and underwear, shirts off, still wearing mukluks and painting each other purple...

"Just what in HELL is this?" shouted the devil.

The three in unison began to chant...

"Da Vikes are in da Super Bowl!"

"Da Vikes are in da Super Bowl!"

"Da Vikes are in da Super Bowl!"

Sorry...

Not this year either...

Mark

Gotta love the Saints! I didn't have a horse in this race, so I decided to cheer for the underdogs and I'm glad I did!

HOW old is Roger Daltrey now? I guess I can appreciate that he is still up there belting out the tunes but GAWD, did I feel old watching him on stage!

For the record, here's my superbowl rundown. Keep in mind, I'm a marketing/advertising person by trade:

Game: Great game between two well-matched teams. Love it when the SB is NOT a rout! The Saints wanted it more...

Ads: Meh. C- this year. Liked the Google and VW spots. Some of the other car ads were ok. Can't decide about Etrade. Loved the baby when they first did it..was new and refreshing. But now I feel as though they're really running out of room with that storyline. Otherwise, it seemed as though the sponsors were relying on sex or stupidity (or perhaps both) to sell. Oh...the Denny's ad...pretty funny.

HalfTime Show: Great lights and fireworks. Loved the choreography to the music. The band: Well, what's not to like about The Who? But...they really are aging (aren't we all?) and it's tough to see them up there trying to belt it out like they did so many years ago. I still think U2 had the best halftime show, ever.

The big controversial Tim Tebow ad: Much ado about nothing...again..from the PC left. Ad was tastefully done and I thought imparted the right message. For me it *was* a pro-choice ad. Tebow's mother knew she had a choice and she was communicating with us about the choice she made. Personally, I am against abortion but I understand that it's not my business to try to encourage lawmakers to make laws about such a private decision. I can only hope as much energy goes into encouraging our young people and our older people to act responsibly and avoid the situation in the first place.

I have you beat.

I saw The Who in 1969 at Merriweather Post Pavilion, near Columbia, MD. To this day, I use that as a bit of a trivia question: What band opened the show?

Answer: Led Zeppelin!

And The Who Kicked their a**!

I thought it was kinda neat - there was a large age range at the party we went to, but everybody right down to the youngest children knew the songs. Of course they said as they walked by - "Hey, that's the CSI song!"

The ads were very disappointing.

A couple of years ago, I was out with a friend having coffee. Eric Clapton's "layla" came on (trivia question...who can answer WHO Layla actually was? Five bonus MB points for the correct answer....). Anyway, it was the acoustical version off of us "Unplugged" album. And I said "I like this, but I love the original". And she said "this isn't the original song?"

Sometimes I feel sooooooo old.

A: Patricia Anne "Pattie" Boyd, former model from the 60s.

Former wife of Clapton and George Harrison. "Layla" was written when she was still married to Harrison.

Inspiration for Harrison's "Something" and "For You Blue" and Clapton's "Layla", "Wonderful Tonight," and "Bell Bottom Blues."

Original song appeared on "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs," released in December 1970 by Derek and the Dominos. Their only studio album.

ETA: Duane Allman also played on the track.

What do I win?

Mark

AH yes It was painful to watch Daltry strain to get his breath.

I became a real who fan after the release of Tommy the movie. Before that I just loved the music style and you could hear townsends classical background in everything he wrote..
