I am watching the Olympics, Its probably one of the most entertaining events I can call sports. I respect those atheletes.
Grats Canada for 1st Goldmedal ever won while you were hosting the Olympics of your soil.
Mens downhill mogul.
And also grats for beating out the dual resident from Aus.

I admit, I love watching the Olympics. Schmaltzy as all get-out but I really like watching the athletes compete: no professional contracts, sponsorships etc.
At least, it's supposed to be that way.
I liked it even more when the NBA, NHL players were NOT allowed to compete.
And I don't like all the 'up close and personal' and back story stuff. I know it's popular with a lot of people, so we have to watch it....I'd rather just watch the athletes.
And what's up with Bob Costas? Has he found the fountain of youth? Guy looks exactly the same as he did 20 years ago.

One more thing. The ads are WAY better than the Superbowl ads were this year.

I agree on both points except I like the backstorys. Only because these ppl are sometimes so challanged in real life.
I can't remebe the details but in one summer olympics and women who had competed in them as a young women, then she got married, had children, fought cancer, lost her husband or a child, not sure which, decided she was going to compete again in her late thirtys. These are the very reason I like the olympics, that women won even if she came in last. The athletes embody the true spirit of sportmanship. Human spirit overcoming obstacles requiring discipline and dedication with no guarantees. Yes they will ride the fame train and make some $ in endorsments "IF" they succeed. But a lot of them just like to compete.
Yeah keep ..ahem "professional" sports ppl out of it IMO. With so many pro sports ppl being treated like royalty. (They say the royalty in the US are rock and pro sports stars) They turned something that should only exist to inspire ppl into depravity when you see stuff like Tiger woods crap and remember Darrell Strawberry?. Come on these guys should have been kicked out permenantly from sports for there own good as well as the spirit of them.
But the sponsors.media, and spinners have invested a lot of $ in these guys so our children suffer as we call them "stars".
Oh yeah!! .. IDK I really don't remember but he does "loook Maaaveless dahhling"

Our Father, who art in GM Place, hockey be thy name. Thy will be done, GOLD to be won, on ice as well as in the stands. Give us this day, our hockey sticks, and forgive us our penalties, as we forgive those who crosscheck against us. Lead us not into elimination, but deliver us to victory. In the name of the fans, CANADA and the HOLY PUCK. AMEN!!.

We are kind of hockey nuts here aren't we, lol! Now I can't wait for the big game between U.S. and Canada men's teams!!!!! Nail biter for sure. I've never really been into watching all of the figure skating, but caught some of it the other night. I only saw the long program, but that little U.S. girl, the 16 yr. old, was amazing. I thought she was better than the Canadian and she won bronze. I also don't understand the scoring and how they came to those results, but the U.S. will have a champion in a few years that's for sure. The gold champion from Korea ...... outstanding performance I thought! SSO, when you know it all, you can pass it on forward to the rest of us, lol! Keep enjoying, I love it too.

I allways liked that saying.. "Those of you who think you know-it-all are extremly irritating to those of us who do..." I know what you mean about the scoring system. That american skater was awesome in what they called the "Short" program and the Korean skater didn't do as well as the Japanese one but hey, I don't know the system. All the commentaries were saying something about USA skater doing well and seemed to think all was fair. In the long program like what you watched, I agree Korean GM winner was awesome. Im a-gonna watch mens hockey today WOOT! I wished I could root for canada cuz its on thier turf but I'm american...

Into the second quarter it seems US does not have the control on the ice that hey had against the swiss.
Its like Miller saves constantly as Canada hammers the goal. Canada up as score is 2 to 0 ....
then with 7 mins left, the US starts to look like a team as the goal is now 2 to 1.
What a game, if I could have picked a contact sport it would be football or hockey. I like the hustle in Hockey
Looks like US is pouring it on now at close to 3rd quarter Starting to see teamwork and timing.
At Third quarter. 2 to 1 Canada
25 shots on goal from canada...23 US At this point I think Canada has showed better control but its still gonna be a good game.

Something awesome on backstorys.
The first ever gold won by a canadian on canadian olympic soil was won by the young man in moguls.
This kid has an older brother who has MS and he said his older brother was an inspiration to him allways.
"He has more problems than most people but never acts like it"
Thats a beautiful example of love coming from that family IMO. May we all make choices like them.
"If my brother can deal with his problems with a great attitude, I can."
