Heaviest Element Yet Known to Science Discovered
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California has now identified with certainty the heaviest element known to science.
The new element, Pelosium (PL), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.
These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.
Pelosium is inert, and has no charge and no magnetism. Nevertheless, it can be detected because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A tiny amount of Pelosium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete.
Pelosium has a normal half-life of 2 years. It does not decay, but instead undergoes a biennial reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places.
Pelosium mass will increase over time, since each reorganization will promote many morons to become isodopes.
This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Pelosium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass.
When catalyzed with money, Pelosium becomes Senatorium, an element that radiates just as much energy as Pelosium since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

Here's another one T&L sent to me:
Obama administration recognizes George W. Bush
We've just heard that the Obama Administration will be honoring the 43rd President of the United States by naming the gap between the tectonic plates beneath Haiti after him.
The area will now officially be referred to as "Bush's Fault."

And, on a (only mildly) related note: Did you read This article about Charles Munger Jr. ? He's quite an interesting man.

Hi Pep, Yes I did see it in the paper this morning. My W said, "You have GOT to read this article." I did and we laughed. I can see him checking everything, dotting all of the "i", crossing "t's", and making sure it is done. I will tell you the very geometry of our districts offends my sense of symmetry, and fairness. A map of CA's districts are a joke especially in northern CA. Two, three and sometimes four districts cross over the same counties and often encompass three or four counties. It just offends me on all levels. Did you know that from 2000 through 2006 there were 495 state and federal elections and only 5 changes hands and I believe only 1 changed parties, this is through the Bush elections, dot.com bust, you name it. Look it up it is on the web. It is simply scandalous. I think you are suspecting that this is a major issue with me, and you would be very right. Oh, in that time frame over 50% of the congressional elections were won with margins exceeding 50%. The voters had no choices really. Oregon is having the same issues, and I suspect any state with politicians educated enough to turn on a computer and hire someone who knows GIS is having the same problem. It really is a scandal and I am very happy that Dr. Munger had the money and the drive to get this done. Thanks for the heads up. JL

Why didn't the press article link to a map of the actual districts?
Even in my state, is ridiculous.
Gerry-mandering is an artform in the new computerized, move a line 1/2 mile that way, and know that you have added or subtracted X number of voters.
Seesh.
Pep posted some funny stuff, however.
