The Doctor has prescribed me the antidepressant Venlafaxine. Don't know much about antidepressant medication, as I have never been on any. I would like as much info on these type medications as possible. Don't want to deal with the side effects.

Venlafaxine is Effexor I believe. It's an SNRI. It has somewhat of a bad reputation in the anti-depressant world for causing bad withdrawal symptoms in some users once discontinued. Every friend I've had who's tried it has discontinued because of restless feelings, sexual side effects, or just feeling jittery.
That said, it might work great for you! Your doctor probably selected it for a reason. Picking the right AD is kind of a crapshoot, it depends on the individual person.
I have an anxiety disorder and I used to take Paxil (20 mgs / day) which helped. I stopped for a long time and then started taking Celexa 20 mgs / day about 9 months ago. They both work pretty well for me, and I didn't have any withdrawals from tapering off Paxil like many people do.

26, I do medical transcription as a day job and I use the site drugs.com for all my drug info needs Just go to the site and type in the name of the drug in the search box. It'll give you a ton of information. Good luck.
Me, BW WH cheated in corporate workplace for many years. He moved out and filed in summer 2008.
