Hi,
And I have to thank you for you post last evening.
My frined knows me, he is someone I work with and lives close by and he knows both my wife and I well, and he knows that I am an alcoholic because his son was arrested for DUi twice in that last year.
I am posting this separate because I wanted to respond to you, but that last thread or string was locked, and do not know how to merge my post with my original string.
All you said is true. No I would never just drink two beers if I was going to but several until I really felt the effect.
I am a member of New Beginnings - an online AA email group - and have been a member of NB6 since 1997. I was up late last night emailing and also phone calls with two members I have gotten to know well (twice at annual meetings here in Chicago).
I did look at the site you provided a link to but I don't have speakers yet for my computer and I did honestly not go farther.
Yes, alcoholism is a major love buster with any spouse and I can tell you that my wife mistrusted me during my active drinking and for awhile after my treatment.

Hey Tom
Thanks for responding.
I lurked on this site for about a year or so before I began posting. In this time I have gotten to know a lot of the members just by reading posts. I pick up on the members who deal with alcohol either by use or live(d) with alcohol problems.
I know when you first posted you mentioned an alcohol problem. Being alcoholic myself and over a time of reading posts I kinda get to caring about others that deal with it also. When you posted that last night it raised red flags to me. I didn't know exactly where you are at with your sobriety .I understand yur need to rant and this site works pretty well for that. My need to help one of the fellowship kicked in.
18 years-You must be doing something right. Congratulations!
There may not be much in the link that would be new to you. You may find it entertaining though or possibly pass some of it along to others. There is a link also to e-mail them.
I'll try to keep up with your posts. Sometimes there isn't much I can add. Also I'm so poor at typing that it takes me a long time to post and 2 or 3 are already posted before I can get mine done. By then its irrelavent or repeated.
I'm in my early 50's so I do get a glimpse from your posts of what experiences my future may possibly hold. Keep posting.
God Bless you and your wife.

Hi,
I need to tell you that is has not been 18 successful years of sobriety. My prior last drink was November 12, 1992. That was about three weeks after I finished the in-patient treatment. I was attending AA meetings and finally hooked up with a sponsor who was right for me.
I broke that the end of this past January when I did pick up a drink again and drank pretty much for 8 days. That ended on February 4, 2010. I called my sponsor, and he had fallen off twice, but has been sober now for nearly 20 years. He is not a 'hit 'em over the head' type guy, and he knows my wife also.
Thank you for your support, and you have mine as well!
One thing that has helpe me much during most of this time is my online AA email group, but unfortunately they are falling by wayside now so am looking for a new one.
Tom

Hi,
This to me is just too big of a feast, holiday, or however you celebrated it, without me at least taking a moment to wish you a Happy Easter.
