T.H.,
I don't know about Paxil, but I've taken Zoloft, and it works great, and has few side effects. It takes about a good month to kick in,though.I doubt(I'm NOT a doctor)that the Paxil would be effecting you like that after only two days, but you may want to call your doc.Maybe you can take small doses of the anti-anxiety med.during the day to lessen your symptoms. That's what I did after my W left me to be with her trophy-boyfriend.Hope this helps. --Murph

TH - my doctor put me on Paxil as well, but said the "kick in" depended on tolerance. I never even got the chance to move up in dosage after the first 7 days like I was supposed to. Made me feel yucky - like food tastes when you have a cold. I went off them and opted for no more - just St. John's and me. Talk to your doc after a week or so if you're not doing better.
There are lots of meds that may work better for you. Remember, a lot of those feelings you're having come with our situation, the meds just "take the edge off" they don't get rid of them. Talk to your doctor again.
Sleeping will help. I know once I started sorta sleeping again, I was in much better control of my daytime hours.
Lori

trying hard,
I'm a nurse practitioner and have some experience with these meds. People respond to all antidepressants and antianxiety meds. very individually. I am on Paxil and for me I was very nauseated and anxious initially so I went down to half the dose (10 mg) for 1 week then upped it and tolerated it fine and now I'm on 30 mg with no side effects. Depending on how you feel, I'd encourage you to stick with it 2 weeks and then reevaluate. These things can really help, but if the side effects aren't tolerable then call your doc and consider a different brand. They are all similar, just tolerated very individually so don't give up! Good luck!
Jenn
------------------
Trying Hard,
WHOA, see your doctor first thing, explain the problems you are having, maybe you need something diffrent. I was on Zoloft for over a year, but I was still having major depressions and angziety attacks.
When I finally told the doctor he started me one Serzone , I've been on it a little over a month now, it seems to work ok for me thus far. Hang in there, let the drs help you.
------------------
Just call me - Deb
------------------------
The only day I can do anything about is today, yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not yet mine.

I love Paxil, I'm on 10mg. I swear I felt it kick in at 2pm the first day I took it. Anxiety very rare, OCD tendencies reduced, panic gone. However, I can't cope with my prescribed dosage of 20mg--I'm all foggy and feel immobile at that level.
It seems like these meds really depend on the person, my H had terrible side effects with Serzone (won't tell you, because it isn't something that usually happens, you can check depression.com for usual side-effects) and Zoloft works great for him, but he hates taking any meds, so doesn't stay on.
