I'm not entirely sure. He was called last January when my brother tried to move away to live with a friend in a similar situation.
I pay $400 a month in "rent." Perhaps he is seeing that going out the window for my grandmother? He is the ONLY son who did something with himself. He's the responsible one.

And yes, there is a library nearby. I'll definitely check that book out.

Slept about 3 hours. Hooray. I have to work 9 hours today and go to work at 6:30 (geez, took me four or five times to write that correctly) tomorrow morning.
Everyone's being super-nice. Yes, of course. I should just pawn all the stuff I can and buy one Wal-Mart giftcard and buy stuff at the Walmart there if I ever manage to get to Denver.
There's a sort of lunchbox-sized thing that came with the luggage I bought that I could fill with the toothpaste, mouthwash, shampoo, and stuff I've bought so far.
With my lack of sleep, I can barely think. Luckily it doesn't take much to scan and bag items...

Godspeed!
Don't forget us!
Get the driver's license for ID purposes as soon as is reasonably possible....even if you have nothing to drive....you could at least put a friend in their car to get them to medical care. A driver's license w/ a photo is a very well accepted form of ID so that would be good to have.

I live in Virginia, unfortunately.
What is the process for needing insurance as far as your license goes, anyway?
As in what do I do. I don't want to buy more than I have to for example.

I have a learner's, I Just haven't...learned to drive yet. We've never gotten around to it.
I also have my SS card. Would that count as the two forms of ID?
What would I do about the trailer I am living in now? My name's on it, after all.

Hi karma-
You can most likely get a state ID card with your photo on it. It works like a drivers' license for picture ID but you don't have to take a drivers' test to get it. You do need some forms of ID, such as your SS card and birth certificate or something else. Check online at your state DMV or government site for forms of ID for a state ID card.
About the trailer-what kind of trailer is it? Travel trailer, mobile home, etc? Is it just your name on it? Is your name on it for payments or do you "own" it?
Depending on what the situation is, you may some leverage with your family. I wish I lived closer but I'm on the other side of the US, furthest northwest corner, just under British Columbia.
Hang in there!

It's in a trailer park and I don't believe it is classified as a home like a double-wide.
It was paid for and put in my name because the others had disability payments and such that they couldn't jeopardize by having property. That has changed for my brother, however.
I'm actually not sure what it's classified as honestly.

If the trailer is paid for and in your name, you are the legal owner of it. You could sell it if you wanted and they couldn't do anything about it. I'm not suggesting that you do-just letting you know that you have a "bargaining chip" with them now.
I'm not the best at coming up with strategies for things like this, but I'll give it a try. Maybe you could let them know that you will be allowing them to stay in the trailer and will transfer the title to your brother in exchange for them not interfering with your plans. Have it all arranged (paperwork signed and ready to send in) and then mail it in after you are in Denver. In my state, if you write a note transferring the title as a gift, it doesn't cost anything. We did this with a car we owned that we gave to my DD when she got married. Call your local DOL place to find out the details.
I'm praying for you-

What about tax purposes? It would legally be "gifting" so would I not be beholden to taxes?
I'll be looking it up. And still applying to jobs in Denver via an hourly job website.

Not sure about the rules in your state, but in my state if you give a "vehicle" (in this case, an RV) to family, there is no cost. If there is one, it will most likely be a transfer of title fee, and that's not much.
Call the local licensing place where people go to renew their yearly license tabs and ask them what you need to do to give your brother a travel trailer/fifth wheel that is in your name. Let them know it's stationary, but it's not a mobile home. They should be able to help you.

So let me get this straight:
Your father and grandmother are on disability, and to avoid losing that benefit that comes at tax-payer expense, they put a property they own that would make them ineligible for benefits into your name.
Is the trailer owned outright?
Because that would be even more infuriating - you are paying them "rent" for the privilege of being a part of their little fraud-game.
I'd recommend washing your hands of this little drama asap - before YOU GET IN LEGAL TROUBLE!!!

No. My brother and grandmother.
My grandfather was the sole wage-earner and was himself getting disability (earnestly--he was a vet) before he died. Therefore, this SS is all the income my grandmother has.
My brother got them for having a certain sort of medical device (I've already used enough identifying info) and doesn't get it any longer because he had it removed.
Yes the trailer is owned outright.

You're not only being abused, you're being used. They actually CHARGE YOU RENT!!?? for something they own outright.
karma - if I had four days, I'd drive from UT and pick you up myself. The mother-bear in me just wants to stare your uncle down and dare him to get in your way!

Do you think the DMV would be able to tell me about the property transferral since it's officially considered a vehicle? Even though it is a stationary item.

It'd be the first mother-bear I'd ever encountered, to be honest. I'm really not joking. If I can get this "vehicle" transferred then I'll have no more ties to the area. Except for a Schewels thing which I used to build credit.
