Well...I wanted to get a head count first. Maybe wait until tomorrow morning?

Then...tell me what you think about this. Take 1 week from tomorrow and read Part I. Then meet on the thread next Friday to discuss Part I and decide on a reading agenda for the following Friday's discussion?

I thought for trying it out that might be good. Then if we end up progressing too slowly, and as long as everyone agrees, we can cover more reading in a given week.

Editing to say that there may be some who want to be included who will need to order or borrow the book and may need a few days. If that is the case, we can hold off for a while until everyone has theirs.

I own the book, have already read it twice but would like to join in and hear everyone's thoughts if I can? I'm usually online at different times to everyone else though being in France.

Rosycheeks - absolutely. I added your name to the list (not that we need a list, but it helps to know who's in the group). I'd like to hear your input too when we get started.

I've read this book at least twice, possibly three times. I will watch this thread with interest for any additional insight or understanding.

Farmer, I am going to add you to the list. Don't feel that you have to read with us again if you don't want to, but as someone who has read it repeatedly, if you'd like to add input on the parts we have read so far and are currently discussing, please do.

For a dollar a day, you could save up enough to buy one in less than a month. smile

Just curious...

Shouldn't everybody only spend $6 if their spouse enthusiastically approves?

I'll join.

Vibrissa, Flick and I have a POJA to POJA on purchases over $100. Anything under that is up to personal discretion. Your finances might not be the same as us, but I am sure you could come up with a similar one. $6 seems a bit low for me.

DH and I always run purchases by each other - more so that we know what's going on with our money. Even if it's 5$ for lunch. We've been poor college students nearly all our marriage and it's just a habit we've gotten into. Money's always been very very tight. If we can't get a hold of each other to talk about an expense we just let each other know first thing when we do talk. It may seem a bit much for some couples but it's never bothered either of us and it's never something we really discussed - more just a habit we've developed.

I doubt he'll say no- but if he has a problem with it I'm sure we'll work it out. We just always saw it as OUR money so whatever it's spent on should be something we're both ok with. Plus the sweet talking is always fun *wink*

I get the purchases under 100$ thing - that could work though 100$ is a bit much for our budget but we're ok with the way it is now.

Just double checked with the hubby and he likes that we run purchases by each other too. Isn't that the whole point of POJA? Something you both like?

Anyways - sorry to write a novel but I'll probably be getting the book.

lildoggie, we (mrs. farmer and I) have the same agreement and limit of $100 with the exception of grocery shopping. It is difficult to get out of the grocery store for under $100, especially if we have purchased any meat since we only shop one day each week.

By mutual agreement, we will inform but not seek approval for amounts less than $100 if it is something for ourself rather than something purchased for the family.

Wow - You guys really came through. We're up to 13 participants, with 3 questionables/waiting for books, but 10 easy.

I confess that part of my agenda is to use you all as inspiration. I've tried to read this book and sputtered and stopped a few times. This way, I'm expecting you all to hold me accountable.

Considering that there are 3 people who need a bit of time to acquire the book or decide for sure if they'd like to join, I propose that we wait until next Friday to begin reading. Is this too far out?

I will start a thread to them to get definite answers and/or hands raised once they get their books.
