Hi Melody and rest of you,

I am not that up on bumping threads or sidetracking them or whatever, but I read one of your responses to someone today where you compared a WS reaction and fog to an alchohic, and I just wanted to post to you that you are so right.

When I was drinking, my wife had no idea, no comprension and no understanding of where I was or why anymore than I did, or our kids did at the time. All I knew at that time is that i wanted to do three things: 1) conceal my drinking and at least appear to act normal, 2) plan ahead so if necessary take my drinking further underground, and 3) be prepared with the soooo "logical" answers as to my whereabouts and my moods.

And like you have said, the thing that killed my 'affiar' with alcohol was exposure pure and simply. My boss and her husband and my wife and I were also friends outside of the job. Char felt comfortable enough to contact my boss and tell her of my addiction ('affair'). She got support, and guess what. I ended up in treatment. I need to tell you tho that even in this, I now can define my wife's reaction as her Plan A at the time. She told me that she would be there for me IF I completed treatment, joined AA, and continued to show her that I could be trusted. Guess what again! her plan A worked.

Thanks,

Tom

Tom, isn't it amazing how a recovering alcoholic can recognize that mindset in a wayward? Because we WERE wayward! I think that is how Dr Harley "GOT IT" when he came up with this program for adulterers. He once owned a chain of treatment centers and must have realized that a WS has the same mentality.

And you are so right about exposure being our friend. It works!

Hope you are Char are doing well. smile

Hi Melody,

Thanks for asking. She is doing fairly well, but I will post more a little later tonight on my "HiHiHi" string.

Thank you Melody,

Tom
