I looked at that web site and I do feel it is TE, but I haven't been to a Derma. My primary also said the same thing, but I am only 26! While premature grey runs in my family hair loss does not. It is not really noticable to others, but my hair is so much thinner now than it used to be. I can't run my fingers through it w/o handfuls, when I am cooking my family finds hair everywhere. It just keeps falling out. I haven't said anything to H. He doesn't feel quilty for anything, just always finds away to put it on my. I can't take another thing on my shoulders at this point. Let me know how it goes for you.
Mater

Mater - Telogen effluvium can hit you at any age - so being 26 doesn't matter. It also has nothing to do with family history. (I think your primary care doctor, like mine, probably thought it was androgenous alopecia, the male pattern hair loss some women get-that one is hereditary) TE is simply the result of severe emotional stress that I am sure you have experienced. The good news is that even though the hair loss is more sudden and dramatic than other types of hair loss - IT IS TEMPORARY. This weekend my dermatologist said he has never seen a case as dramatic as mine, but that the prognosis is good. He thought that within a year my hair would start to grow back and be normal again within 2 years. (I may lose most of it before then) You said you haven't said anything to H about your hair loss. I don't know if you should or shouldn't. When I first told H the cause, his response was less than empathic - blamed me for the problems in the marriage which caused him to seek refuge in his affair etc. Later though he apologized and said he felt terrible I had to go through the hair loss too on top of emotional pain and that it was just another bad thing his actions caused. When he sees me put minoxidil (rogaine) on my scalp every day he says it makes him feel guilty and ashamed - so now I try to do it when he is not around. The Doc says I have to get rid of the severe stress in my life to stop the episodes of hair loss - easier said than done! I told H this and asked for his help - that it was important we be kind to each other and not withdraw. Take care and thanks for your post.
Simone
