On a lighter note that hopefully people wont find a way to get mad at me about.
We are getting a new puppy. I am having a hard time coming up with a good name for it.

Any suggestions out there?

What names do you have for your pets?

Well, what kind of dog is it? And, is it male or female?

I have a pit bull named Oreo, because he's mostly black with a big white stripe down the middle of his chest, so he pretty much looks like an Oreo cookie.

My dogs are named Molly and Greta, toy minature schnauzers. Congrats on getting a lab! They are awesome dogs.

You have grievously insulted my princesses by comparing them to a varmint!! dramaqueen

I was choosing dog names at christmas

Our blonde labradoodle is called Ted

The town I live in is blacklabville

The black labs I know here are called

Murphy (whose fave game is to let Ted pich his ball and then chase him)
Tiger
Will
Rufus

Names on my list were (that don't have blonde connotations):
Kingsley
Elvis
Worzel
Wilf
Alfred
Rupert

I'm assuming a boy here - do you know what you're getting?

My black lab/border collie mix was named Grace, because when we first got her, she was the clumsiest little thing we'd ever seen. We were trying to be encouraging, but she never really did grow up to be a particularly graceful dog. She was a good hunter though.

My dog's name is Misty (Misty Dawn).

Sweetest, bravest little mini doxie you ever saw. Chased off a full-grown DEER.

It's amazing how the little dogs have the heart of a lion.

I will not spend my life this way.

Heart of a lion??? Reptillian defence mechanism I'd say!

My poor, enormous, bouncy fluff ball gets snapped at and attacked by all the little nutbars. Actually Bumble, or was it her sister Bee? the mini schnauzer played beautifully with him this morning.

We see a terrier - Bertie and his companion Beau, the Rottie too. Bertie is horrible to Ted, Beau runs away.

Cricket is an interesting name, not sure how it fits for a dog that will be a little bigger.
I was thinking about Sally, but not sold on it.
I have a few days we don't get the puppy until Sunday.

My wife rescued a dog. Called her Daisy...

While we were "looking for a home" for Daisy, she had three puppies.

There were two females and one male. Being Cubs fans (Yeah I know. Anybody can have a bad century!) the pups got named Lilly, Wrigley and Zambrano.

Well, Daisy got a new home.

Lilly went to a couple in the neighborhood with three kids and is doing well.

Zambrano went to a couple about 2 hours away in Indiana and got renamed. Hoped he is doing better than the guy he was named after...

And Wrigley we still have. She is supposed to be our son's dog but he has moved to an apartment with a friend who already has a dog and since our nickname for Wrigley is "Shredder" for her tendency to tear things into tiny little pieces all over the house when she gets bored or upset with us for not being home, and at least at our house she has "playmates" (our old arthritic German Shepherd and the cat, also a rescue) we ended up with two dogs and the cat and an empty nest.

It cuts down on weekends away together, but what ya gonna do?

German Shepherd is named Crystal Rose (Crystal or Crys) and the cat, that is a gray fur-ball and a bit plump is called Greaser.

Previous pets have been Zechariah (Zeke - a rescue dog), Penny (a beagle mix from the shelter), Caesar (an Irish Setter we got when we rented a house and the previous tenants couldn't take him along) and with Caesar came a cat named Brutus who vanished one day. We replaced Brutus with a cat named Sabrina that we got when the previous owner got sick and had to go to a nursing home.

We had a little Sh-itzu (funny what the PC filter finds to censor) mix named Mindy we got from the shelter that became the favorite recreational companion of a Siberian Husky we were given as a present named Mercedes. We had a cat named Tommy and a Rot mix pup from the shelter who died of Parvovirus who was called Rocky for his three weeks stay with us.

We also had a horse named Moonlight Dancer (barn name Dancer- a White Arabian) and a horse named Prissy Kelly Anne (Prissy - a black and white Tobiano Paint) though horses are a bit more than just pets for most of us who have ever had one.

I once dated a girl who had a Mastiff named Baby, 180 pounds of bouncing fun and love...and one of the scariest dogs I have ever seen.

Both of our dogs are named after characters from movies.

Our rough-coat Jack Russell is named Idgie after Idgie Threadgood from the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes". She has the same tenacious personality (such a surprise in a terrier-Not!)

Our German Short-hair is named Mahoney after Natalie Portman's character in "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium." She has the same brown eyes... smile

Well Sally is a nickname for Sarah. I always liked Emma for a female dog. My sister has a female black lab named Maddie.

Sable is another. Isn't Sable black?

Jetta (for Jet black?)

We had a cat named Molly. I always liked that name.

Some others are Mazie and Sophie.

How about...something cool like Liberty. You could call her Libby.
