Just to give you a brief summary of my situation....
My husband and I are seeking marriage counseling due to my infidelity. I have made many mistakes over the past year and want to do anything I can to save my marriage. Luckily, my husband is loving enough man to have spent so much time reading and researching MB. And, I now have come into the light and seen that my actions have been and something I never ever knew I was capable of or expected of myself. I, too, have read many of MB articles and we have taken several of the questionanaires together. We have been to several local counselors and have not had much success. Due to our complete confidence in MB we would like to do telephone counseling with Dr. Harley. Has anyone else done phone counseling? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

.

Hi RT, welcome to Marriage Builders! My H and I have not done the phone counseling but I know others here who have done so and have a great marriage today. PapaBear and his wife SMB come to mind. coaching center

Another option is to do the online course. My H and I did this, except at that time, they held a kickoff training session in a hotel in a major city. [we went to Florida and went through it with some other board members] Now, the kickoff is done via online videos. In the online course, they assign you a marriage coach who walks you through all the lessons over a period of month. You have daily access to Dr Harley, who oversees your progress. online program

We've used the phone counseling center, and it was great.

My advice? Go for it. Spare no expense. Start phone coaching with the coaching center immediately, and also try to do the online program w/ home study course as well.

If both of you are willing and follow this program, you can have a great marriage.

Yes, my wife (SMB) and I used phone couseling/coaching right from the start. Dr. Jennifer Harley Chalmers was our MB coach. We coached with her for 3+ months . Her vast experience with helping couples recover from infidelity was invaluable and contributed greatly to our recovery.

p.s. Hey Mel, thanks for the "great marriage" compliment..... We really are blessed to have a great marriage!

Recovery began 10/07;

I have been using the telephone "teaching." I've found it to be not much different from sitting on a couch accross from someone. They utilize email and online forms to help with the process.
They also empasized that they are teachers not counselors. They teach you the MB principles and how to implement them. Which is why they are different and more successful than any other type of Marriage Counseling.
