Lets Go Steelers...
Cricket is Baseball for those who do not know what a Diamond is.
Or gloves for that matter.
We are hosting about 20-25 at our house, with all the Pittsburgh food we can muster. We usually have mexican, but we are going with an Eastern Europe flover this year.
Steelers 31, Packers 24.
LG Are you setting up a gambling pool? One of the things I will miss is our So Cal friends annual SB fiesta. Three years in a row someone from our family won at least part of the pool. 100 BLANK squares 10 across the top 10 across the bottom Something like this: And each square was sold for whatever you want. $2 is good. Each buyer/gambler would sign their initials in the BLANK square of their choosing. After every square was sold and had someone's initials signed in, then the order of the horizontal and then the vertical numbers was determined by drawing cards from a pile. Ace = one and so on. Jack = zero. There would be 4 winners. One winner the end of each quarter. The last number of each teams score for every quarter would determine who won one 4th of the loot. Squares costing $2 = $200 = $50 winnings per quarter. It was a lot of fun. Usually more fun than the game if it was a blow-out. I don't think it will be a blow out this year. I think it will be tight. I hope. What are your opinions about the half time show this year?

It's okay, HHH, you don't have to run. She's too old and her joints too stiff to catch you.

It's okay, HHH, you don't have to run. She's too old and her joints too stiff to catch you. Old people are smart and patient. Old people know how to wait for opportunities that do not require running. We are cagey. We ploy you with something enticing, and when you are close enough, we WACK you on top on your HAID with our pearl-handled cane.

P.S. H & I are leaving E. Tx manana to drive up to Cleveland! Oh, My Gosh! Talk about bad weather! We need LOTS of Travel Mercies!!!!! I feel so sad for all the people who are missing their flights from Pittsburgh to Dallas! Sheeeeeeeeeeeesh! Reminds me of "Planes, Trains & Automobiles"! Be careful coming up, Love! It's about as crummy as you can imagine here. Hey, have ds take you to a place called "Sokolowski's University Inn" for a lot of comfort food - it's the perfect restaurant for dinner in Cleveland weather! I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that Pittsburg Steelers nonsense you were spouting earlier...

Black Eyed Peas are a choice by the NFL to trend younger in the halftime demographics THey tried it with JT and JJ and the "malfunction", and then ran away and hid for several years with some safe, but expensive, bets.
BEP will be entertaining, and Fergie will draw some eyeballs, but no one will remember the act next year......

Any tried and true snack suggestions, folks? Here you go, Mrs. V, this one's a winner. I get raves whenever I make it: Buffalo Chicken Dip 2 (10 ounce) cans chunk chicken, drained; 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened; 1 cup Ranch dressing; 3/4 cup pepper sauce (such as Frank's Red Hot); 1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese; 1 bunch celery, cleaned and cut into 4 inch pieces; 1 (8 ounce) box chicken-flavored crackers Heat chicken and hot sauce in a skillet over medium heat, until heated through. Stir in cream cheese and ranch dressing. Cook, stirring until well blended and warm. Mix in half of the shredded cheese, and transfer the mixture to a slow cooker. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top, cover, and cook on Low setting until hot and bubbly. Serve with celery sticks and crackers.

I done got me a Frank's Red Hot coupon, you list multiple types of cheese, and throw in a crockpot - I'm all in! Thanks for the recipe, bliss - I am tempted to make some now... You know, just for a trial run...

By golly, after reading this for the second time, and reading "throw in a crockpot," I'm just about out the door to get the ingredients myself! Hmmm. Wonder if my new girl friend (not "girlfriend") would enjoy coming over and watching her Packers give it to the Steelers...

Well, my superbowl experience will be upbeat... going to have a chili feed w/ my best friend... who I just found out is in Stage IV renal failure due to his utter inability to eat a proper diet, though he's been diabetic since he was 8 (about the time we met).
Of course, being a good friend since childhood, I found out because his daughter told my daughter he was dying.
Errrrgh. I am soooo going to smack him.

I'm staying home and doubt I'll watch cause my Cowboys aren't playing. The SB is coming to our town and it's gonna be madness. We've had some very unusual cold weather here and people are freaking out about it. I've heard though that some of the SB players are having a good laugh at us and are saying, "What weather?"
Speaking of the Super Bowl, kudos to the law firm where I work. We got this memo the other day at work from our executive committee: (edited names for privacy)
"Dear ________ Colleagues: As I've said before, there are many reasons why I am proud to work at ___________ but today made me especially proud. I want to share with you what our Firm is doing that should make you all feel really, really good. After accommodating requests from our major clients for Super Bowl tickets, we found we had a few tickets left over in random locations around Cowboys Stadium. Yesterday, our Executive Committee got behind an idea that has made some very deserving families very happy. We have been working with a national organization, Our Military Kids, and are donating seven of our Firm's Super Bowl tickets for use by families who have sacrificed so we all can live in a safe and secure country. Among other things, Our Military Kids provides grants to children of deployed National Guardsmen and Military Reservists, as well as children of Wounded Warriors from all branches of the military. They have helped find us very special families who are so excited and grateful to be able to attend the Super Bowl. David ________, his wife and their three sons (ages 6, 7 and 10) are making the two-hour drive from Temple, Texas, to Dallas on Sunday, and will attend the game in our seats and then will stay at a hotel before heading back to Temple the next day. Before his battlefield injury, David served the United States for six years in active duty in the Army and three years in the National Guard. He did two tours in Iraq and now is on 100 percent disability because of a spinal injury. His three sons are big sports fans and athletes, and receive grants from Our Military Kids so they can afford extracurricular activities such as swimming to help them cope during difficult times. When I talked to David this morning I told him these tickets were just a small thank you for the sacrifice he and his family have made. When I told him how much we all appreciate his sacrifice, he said, "You know, I hear from a lot of people how they appreciate what I have done, but no one has ever done anything like this for me before." He choked up as he said that, and I choked up hearing it. He has thanked us throughout the day, said it all is surreal for him and he could not believe this was happening to his family, and said his sons nearly burst his eardrums yelling with excitement. Rick ______ returned to his home in Arlington, Texas, from a year-long deployment to Iraq in April. He spent four years in active duty for the Navy in the 1990s, then was out for 10 years, then rejoined the reserves before being sent to Iraq. He, luckily, returned home uninjured and now works as a business telephone technician. As with many veterans, his return to civilian life has been challenging. He is taking his 13-year-old son, Chase, to sit in two of our seats. Rick and Chase are huge football fans, but this will be their first time to ever attend a professional football game. Needless to say, they are very excited and kept using the word, "Amazing." Rick's wife, Melissa, said in addition to getting a once-in-a-lifetime experience, Rick and Chase also will enjoy some father-son bonding in a very special way. I know we spend a lot of time and effort running and growing a successful and entrepreneurial law firm, but this is an example of the type of unique culture we believe in -- one that cares not just about each other, but also cares and supports those who do so much for our country. Whatever team you may be rooting for Sunday night -- I encourage you to root for the ______ and the ______ and all the rest of our Wounded Warriors, veterans and active duty troops -- past, present and future -- especially those serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Go Packers. Go Steelers. Go ________! "
I love my job and the people I work with!

If it ain't from Primanti Bros., it ain't Pittsburgh food. Fred: We tried to go to Primanti Bros in Oakland last Oct. The place was closed for four hours due to a kitchen fire, so no burger with fries on it for us. We are actually going to make hamburgers with fries on it. So, we got you there... PM: Great Story. Glad to see that some real folks are going to the SB. LG
