For those of you who have family in Japan, hope everyone is ok. My wife's family emailed her to say that they are alright. The quake was pretty strong even in the Tokyo area.
The one constant through all the years has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past. It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again.

My nephew's wife and children are there in Sasebo... haven't heard anything, though he tends to be pretty closed.

I hope that they're okay...I was seeing some live footage earlier...earthquake AND tsunami...that's just...

So, nephew's wife slept through the quake. Didn't hit Sasebo too hard.

We had trouble getting in touch with my wife's son. Cell service was down and he wasn't at home. Turns out he had to spend the night at his office because the train service was suspended in Tokyo. So everyone is ok. Still lots of aftershocks both near Sendai and near Nagano.
