Are there people here that love to garden? This spring, summer, and fall this year will be our first. We want to grow lettuce, pumpkin, cucumbers, and squash. I am really excited about lettuce because I love salads. With the high gas prices and us living far from a lot of places, we have decided to build a garden. I have a question, can you grow lettuce inside the house during winter time? I know winter is months away but I am curious.

We have another desire to buy some hens and to lay eggs for food. Any of you guys have experience in this department, too?

Lettuce usually does well in cold weather here, I'm in zone 7. It doesn't do well for me in summer. Gardening is really specific by zone. Do you know yours?
