Last night I got a layoff notice. With the drop in the market and the bills my XH stuck me with, my house is now upsidedown and it will be difficult to make payments on unemployment. I am trying to view this latest news as opportunity knocking, but may need some of you to help me keep positive focus in the months ahead. I will be working one day a week at my old job while on layoff.

Sigh. Welcome to the (growing) unemployment line.

I have used my time out of work to focus more on my running, church, guitar playing and learning to be a better person and a better man.

God has a reason for all this. I'm sure of it.

We'll all be OK. Just keep your eyes on the prize...

You could also sign up for a temp agency. That is what I have been doing. It's rather erratic, but...

I will not spend my life this way.

KC,
I wish you the best in your search for employment and in the struggles you are going through.
You are clearly a resourceful person. I have no doubt you will use this situation as a gateway to something positive.

So sorry to hear about that. I will pray for you- I believe that God has the perfect opportunity for you! Just ask Him to show you what it is.

Thank you, all of you. I will start my unemployment in June. I applied for a job with the city for which I'm fully qualified but got a rejection letter already so I think they already had someone in mind before they posted the job. Ahh well, it must be that God didn't want me to have that one! So few come along, it should be interesting...
