egads! Thanks for your concern. I almost told you the fires were hundreds of miles from me but I am watching on the news that they are fairly close. I don't live in a forest, thankfully, but in a newer subdivision so I am hoping it doesnt' make it this way.
When we went out today we noticed tons of dead, older trees, and brown grass so I am sure that is fueling it.

From the US Fire Service it looks like most of Eastern TX is on fire, especially Austin, but there's some fires around Dallas, too.
Stay safe! Fire's my worst nightmare. Hope y'all get some rain, we've had about 3" here today.

Makes you kind of pray for a hurricane - well - not really a big hurricane but a decent tropical storm with a few inches of rain would really help if a storm ran up clipping the bottom of Eastern Mexico and headed straight north from there to at least Oklahoma before spinning sideways. That way all of Texas - big state that it is, would get some coverage of a few inches!

Flying back to Dallas from El Paso the other day, I saw several burned patches west of Ft Worth. We live in the east part of DFW and feel reasonably safe but it's still unsettling.
We had several days there a few weeks ago where we were sure it was going to rain - high winds, clouds in 3 directions, and you could smell it on the wind...but nothing.
At least it's cooled off some, but we could really use some rain. I think the immediate economic impact has topped $6B, to say nothing of the longer term ecological and economic impacts.
