I have found a GREAT free phone reverse look up. Hopefully it helps someone in the future. It gives a google map of the location but you have to pay for the details of the owner of the number.

Does it work? It puts my location a good sixty miles away. Have you purchased details? I've tried one of these before, and got the 'owner name' as AT&T, lol. I'm not sure if it was this particular one, but it's a pretty safe bet that the 'owner' of a cell phone number would be AT&T, or Verizon, or Sprint, or T-Mobile, etc...not very helpful. If this one gives true data, it's golden!

I've had good luck simply googling the number. You'd be amazed what you can find. We got a phone number from a couple we met out one night, just first name and phone number. From googling that, I found a place where it was listed online beside 'the wife's' full name, from that I found her facebook, from that I got *his* last name, from that I got their warranty deed, from that I got his divorce records, and from that I got that these two were not married and that the date of their deed together overran the date of his divorce so I threw out their number. lol.
