okay i am divorced, and have a 3 year old with my ex wife. we have split custody.

I got offered a chance to go work 5 hours away. i would be working there for about 6-8 months, and would be able to see my child on the weekends. they are paying me great to go there and will benifit me later on.

i feel so bad only seeing my son on the weekends, and dont know if i should take this offer.

I'd make a list of pros and cons, intimate. What are the benefits of going?

I know it will be difficult to see your son only on weekends, but the benefit may be that you will have extra money you can set aside for your son's future.

How often do you see him now? What will be the logistics if you DO go - will your ex be able to give him proper care? I assume she's dependable and has your son's best interest in mind? Would she be agreeable to this change in custody for the next 6-8 months?

Personally, I wouldn't go because I would miss my children too much. That's just me.
