Lemon law
Lemon laws are American state laws that provide a remedy for purchasers of cars in order to compensate for cars that repeatedly fail to meet standards of quality and performance. These vehicles are called lemons. The federal lemon law (the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) protects citizens of all states. State lemon laws vary by state and may not necessarily cover used or leased cars. The rights afforded to consumers by lemon laws may exceed the warranties expressed in purchase contracts. Lemon law is the common nickname for these laws, but each state has different names for the laws and acts.
Federal lemon laws cover anything mechanical. The federal lemon law also provides that the warranter may be obligated to pay the prevailing party's attorney in a successful lemon law suit, as do most state lemon laws.
Do you have a Lemon Spouse?
There may be 10 things you don't like about your spouse, but that does not make him/her a lemon.
Does your marriage have reasonable standards for quality which your spouse has repeatedly failed to meet? You may have a lemon.
If your spouse has no reliable braking system which would prevent him/her from driving head-first into temptation, he/she may be a lemon.
Early failure to meet reasonable standards - such as your spouse has an affair practically during the honeymoon - Probability of this being a lemon spouse is pretty high.
Do the repairs. Keep pristine records. Do not lower your standards of quality.
Repeated lies?
Repeated addictions?
Repeated infidelities?
Repeated abuse?
You can take your lemon to the 'MB repair shop', and hopefully he/she will then be able to meet reasonable marriage quality standards.
But, if not, the lemon law applies.
