I didn't think I'd have any trouble since they are all out of copyright, but I can check. You get 5 free proof copies for finishing, I hear, so I could just send you a copy.

What font is preferable for books anyway? IE which ones will tick off people to read, what's the "industry" font.

It's five free if you self-publish with them...I think it's createspace this year? Lulu used to do it, give you one free copy and no need to publicly list it for sale. So be careful! I still think createspace will send you one, you pay shipping, and keep the manuscript private. I don't know the whole deal because I'm not a winner, That's just what I got from our ML. Everything should be in Times New Roman, 12 point, one inch margins. Well, that's the default. Agents and editors will usually have it listed in the guidelines, but if they don't list anything, then TNR 12-pt is what you should use.

For editing, though, try changing fonts and sizes once you get down to the fine editing (grammar, punctuation).
Beginning edits should be for continuity (hometowns remain the same, you don't have him listed as a six-foot tall man in one scene and stretching to reach the pedals in a Volkswagen the next, etc), flow (each scene takes place in one location only, page-turners at the end of each chapter, if you switch POV during the novel then it is reasonably spaced--not one character with 15 chapters then sticking in one solitary chapter in someone else's POV--and speaking of POV, pick a style: first person, third deep, third omniscient, second person if you're writing the "Bright Lights, Big City" of your genre, and be consistent), taking out boring stuff, adding in good stuff.

Last year it was createspace, they gave me one free copy though with free standard shipping (I paid for more but they still deducted the $4 from the shipping)
I think this year you get the 5 copies and you pay for shipping but you're probably right on that.
Chapters is one thing I'm not good at. I'm going to have to start with separating it out into chapters. :P

I'm usually pretty good with chaptering, having one to three scenes per chapter, but I have one trunk novel where I'd gone about 20k without a chapter break, I just meandered from place to place, time to time, without a care in the world! If you wrote in Word, check out the Document Map feature. You can make headings and sub-headings that will show up on the left of the screen, so you can get an overview of characters and action in each chapter. It's pretty nifty.

I don't have word--I had to use the generic works word processor. I was worried about 'conversion issues'...
I'm already changing the fonts and margins though. LOL, if I doublespace (I hear editors want this?) the book balloons to 580 pages...

It's only half that normally, though. Oh, something else. What page orientation's good?

Portrait! So it prints top to bottom like a letter, instead of along the long side, like a...a...flip book.
Are you sure about your pagination? At an average 350-400 words per page (that's about my average in TNR 12-pt, 1-in), you're talking about a 200k word count.

At 12-point TNR, single spaced, it's 280 pages. But that's before I start adding in "chapter one" pages, and so on. It's raw and unedited.
EDIT: It's now 251 pages after I adjusted the margins. Apparently I had left and right as 1.25...

My book was assigned an ISBN. I don't exactly want to publish this via them, so what would I have to do to be ABLE to publish it elsewhere?
There seems to be some argument about how you have to try and publish through them before they'll give you your proof copies, so I'm not going to be getting the copies til I know for certain...I'm not very knowledgeable about the process of self-publishing, so I was leery of going on about it.
I'd be happy to email the file to anyone who'd like to read it, until such time as I know what's going on with this snafu.
