Does anyone know where this comes from?
I can only assume it is how Dr. Harley looks at Plan B. Does it come from the bible?
The ease of a wayward spouse's response to the Holy Spirit's voice, is in direct proportion to how tightly their betrayed spouse's lips are closed.
Anyone know biblically where this comes from?

Anyone know biblically where this comes from? It's not a Bible verse. I believe it is a paraphrase from here: 1Co 7:16-17 For how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife? (17) Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches.

That sounds totally like personal opinion to me. I have never heard Dr. Harley say anything like it.

This reminds me of a Biblical description of a wayward wife (which wife escapes me right now). But I don't think I've ever heard Dr. Harley say anything similar.

Anyone know biblically where this comes from? I have never heard that from Dr Harley and don't understand what it means.

I found it in a post from several years ago, and the thread was discussing how the wayward can only be in GOD's hands when the BS gets out of the way.
I don't think it came from Dr. Harley. I wondered if the Holy Spirit is able to get to the wayward when the BS gets out of the way. I couldn't find it biblically at all.
I was just curious if it was in the bible anywhere.

I was just curious if it was in the bible anywhere. I believe that since the Holy Spirit is God, he can pretty much do what he wants. Though, I had a friend who always used to say: "remember, you aren't the Holy Spirit, Stop trying to do His job" CV

I believe there are all sorts of proverbs and stories about wayward wives in scripture. The Book of Proverbs describes the foolish woman who tears down her home. It also describes temptation as woman with questionable morals (my paraphrase.) Then there is the story of Hosea and Gomer, where Gomer is an unfaithful wife to the prophet Hosea. Israel is described by the simile of being an unfaithful wife. The unfaithful wife is all over scripture. The unfaithful husband references I can think of are David, sinning with Bathsheba and having her husband Uriah the Hittite sent to the front lines of the battle to be killed, as well as the men of Israel being taken to task for divorcing the wives of their youth for any perceived fault such as burning the toast. It's certainly not an all encompassing list, but merely what I can think of in the moments it took to compose this post. The ease of a wayward spouse's response to the Holy Spirit's voice, is in direct proportion to how tightly their betrayed spouse's lips are closed. This reminds me of a Biblical description of a wayward wife (which wife escapes me right now). But I don't think I've ever heard Dr. Harley say anything similar.

That just doesn't make any sense to me. God is not going to force a wayward into his hands against his will, regardless of what the BS does. The Holy Spirit can only get to a person if the person is willing.

That just doesn't make any sense to me. God is not going to force a wayward into his hands against his will, regardless of what the BS does. The Holy Spirit can only get to a person if the person is willing. It sorta makes sense if you are a Calvinist. Joh 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. the verb helkouw in Greek (the word for draw) means to compel, to be drug along in a similar manner as a bucket of water being pulled from a well. it denotes passiveness on the part of the one being drawn. Eze 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. Notice here that it is God who is taking out the heart of stone and giving the heart of flesh. It is God who gives us a new will and a desire to follow Him, because we are unable to do it on our own. Scripture is rife with the picture of man's inability and God's action. Particularly in salvation (monergism). Cooperation with God and particularly the person of the Holy Spirit in regards to our sanctification is cooperative (synergistic). Remember this Scripture? Act 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: So.. in my estimation, God can and *may* move a wayward into the hands of their spouse, but I guess you need to define what you mean by "against their will"... God renews our will, changes it and gives us a heart of flesh, so we aren't being drug "kicking and screaming", but then again, he isn't bound by our permission or waiting for our "go" in order to work. CV, there are so many scriptures in the Bible that support free will [versus pre-destination] that one hardly knows where to start. Off the top of my head(James 5:19-20) "My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins. "
That being said, I am not here to get into a Biblical debate, but am trying to understand itstoughlove's perspective. Perhaps she does believe in pre-destination, I don't know. Otherwise, her comment makes no sense to me.

Otherwise, her comment makes no sense to me. It's probably one of the toughest theological concepts (from either point of view) to wrap your head around. Aquinas and some others referred to the balance between free will and divine sovereignty as "two pillars", The higher you look, the more difficult it is to see the top. Yet, they touch at certain points. I'll just add that historic Calvinism doesn't negate human responsibility, it enforces it. It just sets reasons behind why we should act and live responsibly and gives the means by which God works. (oi vey... I'm a theology geek) That said (despite my love for theological discussion), I would love more on tough's view also. At first glance I thought it was a Dr. Harley quote, but I think that was cleared up. CV

It made no sense to me. That is why I wanted to see if the Bible had anything to make it make sense.
