Beauty cloaked in fury
Sunlight soaked hair, burning like fire,
Eyes green as emeralds, raging like a tempest

Fearful, angry, a heart rent with despair
Withholding love, withholding affection,
Turning from all she knows

Abandoning safety, comfort, and peace,
a covenant broken for a false promise of healing
She walks from me as if in a dream

Rending my heart in two
She speaks words of pain and anger
beating me like a stray

Suddenly a light shines from the heavens
exposing wicked deeds to the light
Truth appears and dispels the darkness

Suddenly nothing is as it appeared
a life once cherished now gone
a mist dissipated by the sun

Crushed under the weight of another's sin
a new despair rears its head
threatening to engulf me

I want to run, hide, fight, stand still
I can't think and can't stop thinking
My heart is shattered and my body worn

Just when I think there is nothing left in me
Just as I am about to pass...
Hope, peace, a smile

Grace appears to me,
clothed in peace and humility,
she beckons me to come

She calls to me as a lover,
"come and see! That which was is now no more!"
"Come and be comforted from your mourning"

And peace settles.
That which was destroyed has been removed,
and something better stands in its place

My lost lover is returned
Hair soaked in sunlight, kissed by fire
Eyes like emeralds, calm as a spring morn.

My lover is alight with hope, peace, and love
She beckons me to come and see what has been made new.
No longer raging, she is at peace.

She is my Grace and she brings the laurel of peace
No longer captive to her folly
a creature made anew in faith, hope and love.

thanks MB,

I wrote it talking to a friend last night who's divorce recently became final, and W is still wayward. Had me thinking about all that We went through here in our own house and how blessed we were that things didn't go that route.
