10 lbs...again.

It's not eating for me, it's sitting doing this.

Going to do the treadmill and elyptical in the a.m.

Really. No New Years crap. There. I've said it.

Doing, not hoping.

I'm about 60lbs heavier than I'd like to be and about 30lbs heavier than my husband would like me to be.

I'm back on the good diet wagon - not dieting, but eating healthy, homemade food and purging the house of chips and junk food.

And, I'm working out again at least 3 days a week.

I am in this same boat .. im not fat .. but discovered with some blood tests that I am prediabetic. frown 6'2" and 193 LBS. AFter shopping and reading lables there is SOOO much sugar in everything! We have made it our conquest to ge rid of as much sugar as we can from our diets .. and move to whole foods and low fat stuff .. and if we have any sugar its from fruits (whole sugars and not refined sugar) I am shedding about 2lbs every week or so.

Its sure tough getting rid of carbs... and sugars. ...eating mostly whole grain rice ... whole grain anythings is the way to go.

Now my breakfast in the morning is what i now call "air squares" lol .. its tough .. society has us addicted to sugar and you go through withdrawl! frown this week is better though as my body is getting used to the change in diet.

Surfer, how goes the diet? I lost a huge amount of weight on the Infidelity Diet, but most of it has found me again. I have been on what a friend of mine calls the 'Contented Cow' diet: munch, munch, munch. laugh

Oh, MB, the irony that you posted this last light! Are you creepin in my windows? Ha! Have been doing very well, but heres the thing: I am not a sweets eater (thank God!). My weakness is pastaspecifically Knorr Pesto Sauce, thin spaghetti and parm cheese. None of these things can be in my house, and this rule has been in effect for years. Just a few weeks ago I bought these evil 3 things to make for guests, but that fell through. So, last night at THE VERY time you posted for an update, I was making my worst weakness! Gorged with guilt, and then had the nerve to eat the rest of it at 6:00 a.m. today! And, went back to sleep! 6:00 a.m.! The hell?? I only came here this morning to check on Pep and saw your post. Weird.

So, I had a momenter2 moments. crazy

My first posting date didnt go exactly as I had planned, but as of 2/25 I have been walking 2.5 miles a day. Havent skipped many, and recently moved that part of Operation Maui outside to very hilly country roads, so better challenges. On the days I dont (purposefully skip some) I go to the gym and do the elliptical <<<< I despise this machine, and it doesnt like me much either!

I am seeing results in the slight reduction of the tire, and muscle return. I started lifting weights on 3/10 daily to get my arms back. 2 days ago I added crunches. In my best Kardasian voice: Owwww-wah.

Speaking of: I also had to do some grounding of myself from bad habits developed since last November-ish. I work from home when not travelling and also live alone, so my worst habit was sitting in this very chair mindlessly surfing (heyyywait a minute dontknow) the web. Im talking TMZ, Radar, FoxNews, local blogs, ummmMarriage Builders. Does a 47-year-old really need to know what Lindsey Lohan did last night?? So, in January I started weening myself off of the web, and again made a house rule that if I am not doing something directly related to my job, I get up.

MB, funny about the Contented Cow. We call it grazing! LOL!! Ive always said that I am not a grazer, but as it turns out that is so not true. I am if cud is near, as it turns out. I loaded up on crap to send to my deployed nephew, and had a lot left over that didnt fit in the box. Cheez-Its, etc. Guess what happened to the excess? Yep. The cow ate em!

How are you doing??

I am going to post a few mindgames that seem to be helping me get back on track!

CARBS! Same here. The grain-thing takes a lot of getting used to, doesnt it? I used to eat a lot off brown rice with pork chops of the grill in the summer, but then again Id douse the whole thing with a cup of A1 crazy, which has got to be loaded with sugar.

I had a friend in your boat (sorry to hear, btw, but great that you know it now!) that used to use fruits to flavor food a Lot. I dont particularly enjoy fruit-flavored stuff, but she did. Oranges seemed to be a fruit favorite.

I could easily survive; noenjoy thoroughly living on a daily diet of a block of cheddar cheese and a package of Wonder bread. I chose to cut way back on carbs a few years ago, and yeah, the withdrawal was tough as that was just about all I was eating. Wasnt a weight thing, just so stinking lethargic + age + really working out at the time.

One thing that happened almost immediately was my need for 8-10 hours of sleep changed so dramatically. I was once the person that had to set the alarm to get up at 8-ish while to bed at 10-ish, and now I am asleep at 10 or 11, and pretty much wake up at 6 on my own if not earlier feeling rested. That was almost immediate meaning maybe 2 months after reducing carbs to almost nil. Have you experienced that? A nice side benefit.

How are you and Mrs. W adjusting?

Surfer! ITs totally the carbs and sugars ... the first few weeks were SO hard! I have lost 20lbs since end of december. Mostly due to lifestlye diet change now i add in a workout routine 3-4x a week and i am gaining weight again but in muscle! smile

edit to add that the pasta we eat now is flax seed pasta.. not easy to find .. and DEF not cheap. BUt man is it good for you! And the sleep thing> yeah i wake up PRE alarm to anticipate turning it off .. >.<
