Sounds to me like willpower.


Willpower is actually a limited, exhaustible resource, which fits in with the second highlight.


Even more fun, from the physiological perspective, some researchers think the point when willpower is exhausted is also the point when glucose reserves for the brain have been used up.


I like to refer to Christopher Ryan on this one;

"Just because you have decided to become a vegetarian, doesn't mean BBQ stops smelling good."
