Is anyone participating this year?
I was curious, given that a few people were doing it last year, and I thought it would be nice to have a little MB Nano group. If any of you guys are doing it.

I am torn. I didn't finish last year, but it's always so much fun. My creative writing professor is considering participating, too. I guess I'll have to let you know on the 1st!

I'm not going to do it this year. I want to continue to develop the book I started last year. I think that pigeon holing it into romance was what caused me trouble. I have a co-worker who writes screenplays and he has asked if he could write the one for my book when I finish it. That gave me a bot more confidence in my idea. Now, if only I could buckle down and make myself write it. To anyone who is attempting it this year, GOOD LUCK.

I am hoping that I can get it done. I've tried to develop things--using Writeway and listing tvtropes (there's one for just about everything!) to help with the plot.

I HAVE FINISHED!
It was an absolute NIGHTMARE the last two days. I "finished" the story three days ago and spent the remaining two adding, I think the term is... verbiage. All of which if I get around to edit, will probably be eliminated.
Fire-god tempted by the darkness and hardened by the ensuing evil...hey wait a minute, except for the fire-god part, that sounds familiar...

Thanks. I was so stressed about finishing it...
I ended up doing several things with the main character (a female dark elf) that I didn't intend to, like banishing the darkness from the fire-god instead of killing him outright.
Oh well. That's what Nano is good with, randomosity.

Before you read this, I had not read the Drizzt Do'Urden series before coming up with the idea. Dark elf warrior society, the female is the firstborn. Does well until she's 14, and a blind brother is born. He is hated because he is "useless" and she is given the task of raising him, and loves the snot out of the little booger. He thinks she is mommy and no one tells him different. Etc etc, angry people, she turns 18, he is sacrificed, and the fire-god (who demands the sacrifice of all the "useless") takes her eyes. She is thrown out, and lead to safety by the fire-god's twin sister Lenore (light-goddess)...to a village where she meets a halfling bard, and a dwarf and orc who are priests. There's also an elf doctor who devises a way to get her a new set of eyes, who's a sort of Doctor Who type. (His name is an anagram of Matt Smith, minus one letter and plus a hyphen) The whole book centers around killing the fire-god but right near the end it's realized that he isn't the one doing all this nasty crap, it's the dark thing he trusted. Okay, if I keep going we'll be here 'til the sun explodes.

Thanks a lot. I really have a lot of work to do on it, and even after I edit it I'm not sure what to do. Self-publish most likely, not sure how to go about it any other way.

I did write it with the font size and margins in mind for the Kindle, so maybe I CAN do it.
Thanks for taking such an interest. Maybe it'll help me start editing. Maybe I should start to do so now...
