I was going through some email and I came across my spouse's "Marriott Rewards" points update. I noticed his number of points and if any points were used or gained.
I don't think that many waywards would not try to keep the points total climbing, even if they go in and pay cash for the room.
Check the preferences to be emailed immediately when points are either redeemed or gained. That way if points are awarded for getting a room or used to get a free room, that notification could give you info that much quicker.
And I don't think that they would question that the points would give them away.
