My husband and I are struggling to find a GPS unit that actually works. We have tried 2 apps on our phones and neither have been accurate enough. There are days I do not leave home that it shows I traveled 130+ miles.
In order to make it the most convenient for each of us it would have both the ability to check location real time and access the daily history showing travel. A GPS attached to a vehicle will not work for us as he has access to other vehicles through work.

Brain hurts, Thank you for the link. I had looked at this but most of the devices referred to are for vehicles which do not help us. The one device I did see that could be kept on your person did not work indoors. Since many of these posts were from 2011 I was hoping something new and wonderful may have hit the scene.

Are you on AT&T by any chance? If so, they have a family tracking app that works great.

If you have an iPhone, take a look at some of the fitness apps. I have a free one called Moves and tracks where you go and how fast you got there, and whether walking or riding/driving. It kept working even when inside at work where cell signal doesn't reach.
The one thing is that you can only check someone else's moves after they bring the phone home. If you want real time, find my friends is about as good as anything not specialized.
Specialized gps units are available, just Google for something like anti-theft GPS devices. Some should be small enough to fit in a pocket.

We have US Cellular and android phones. The 2 apps we have tried have been off by over 100 miles in a day so that option is not working. We do have a My Tracks app that works well outside but isn't real time but may be better than what we have now. It will give average speed but will not detail lengths of stops and things at this level. It would save to Google Drive so there would be a record but not immediate access. I will do some searching for anti-theft devices and see what I come up with. Thank you!
