I purchased a Thought Stream biofeedback unit in an attempt to deal with my anger issues. I have been using it about a week. The first couple times I tried it I could feel a relaxing sensation corresponding to the unit's feedback. The last couple times it reflected significant relaxation without any corresponding perception of relaxation for me. Has anyone experienced this? If this is a malfunctioning unit I want to return it but thought since I have no experience in this area I did not want to be hasty. Thank you for your time and expertise!

Hi, hang,
I have a different brand unit. Dr. Harley told me that each of these units measure different things: galvanic skin response, breathing, heart rate, etc. A really high quality expensive unit would measure many different factors and use them to form a blended picture of your mental state. A cheaper consumer unit probably only measures one factor.
In my case, I learned that my biofeedback unit would sometimes register that I was NOT relaxed when I took a deep breath. That's really weird, because deep breathing was relaxing me. It's just that it was also apparently causing a little bit of stress on my skin which caused the amount of stress the unit was registering at that moment to go up.
I was able to use the unit to learn to relax, anyway, despite some inaccuracies like this.

Hello Hang in there...
When you say anger issues, can you go into more detail about it?
Anger can stem from all sorts of areas and although, I do not know your situation, be careful about the tactics you use.
Been there and done with it!
