How worse can it get?<P>How long into pregnancy before they can tell who the father is? What's the procedure? If anyone knows, please help.

These days you can do a DNA test in the first couple months of pregnancy. I believe that a sample of amniotic fluid is taken and that the DNA test is done from this. I may be wrong on the exact details, but I'm sure it CAN be done in the first few months, so you will want to consult a physician for all the details. <P>------------------<BR>~~ Elixir ~~<BR>

BigDaddy:<P>First, let me say how sorry I am that you have to deal with NOT knowing whose child it is. I can't imagine being in your position.<P>Second, I recommend you talk to K. He's had some experience with dealing with a wife who had her OM's child. I'm sure he's run the gamut of emotions and could be an EXCELLENT shoulder to lean on.<P>Third, the lawyer in me can't help but tell you that you really should find out quickly whether the child is yours or his. The law presumes that any child born within the bonds of a marriage is the husband's child. If you EVER (God forbid) have a need to challenge paternity, then it would be good to have that test done NOW. If you had to wait until a divorce proceeding or a child support hearing, it might be a LOT tougher to show the need for one (and your W might be less willing to consent). For your own protection in the future (as well as your own peace of mind in the present) get the test done ASAP.<P>Good luck.
