Hello all, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect in our preliminary hearing. I live in Indiana,we have one daughter who is currently living with me in the home. Her mom sees her every other weekend. Neither one of us has got a lawyer, (we are trying to do this without lawyers) we have agreed on most things but have a few things to discuss yet. Any advice on how we can get this over with as fast and fair as possible?

I live in Indiana. A prelim hearing is so that the Judge can determine where you are in the 'dividing' process. I would present him with a Settlement Agreement on what you both have agreed upon and advise of what is left. He/She may order mediation if you both can't come to an agreement on what is left to divide. This hearing will also determine 'temporary custody & support' visitation and such. Everything will be 'temporary' until the final hearing.

Yes, I caught her cheating. She said she wants the D for other reasons, but I feel he is playing a big part in her decision. At this point I don't care why, I just want to get it over with and get on with my life. Thanks for your answer
