My wife is now talking to me. At this point I Feel she still spending way to much. She has a friend that has plenty of money and her and my wife spend some time together while the kids are in school. My wife is pretty private so to tell the lady we don't have the money to keep up would be embarrassing (to my wife anyway).
At least she is talking to me. She is very ill as she does not feel well right now.
I have had no angry outbursts and as far as I can tell no dj.

Remember it's disrespectful to say how much is "too much." It's not about right and wrong. It's about the effect that her actions have on you:
"Honey, it bothers me that you bought that." "Darling, it bothers me to spend that much money." "Sweetheart, I'm not enthusiastic about this purchase."

Most the the affection has returned. I have not discussed any more finances with her.
Last night we laughed a lot and spent a good deal of time together. She is still recovering from surgery and so she is still not feeling very well.
I am trying to change positions army job that should be less stress and more money.

That is great, jaw.
Do you guys often go in cycles, where things seem to be good for awhile, and then a conflict (like a spending conflict) knocks everything off balance again? That is how my wife and I were when we came here.

Yes. All the time. We did have a stretch of about 3 years where everything was perfect.
