nowords, I am very concerned about your mental health and implore you to take action. Dr Harley, the founder of Marriage Builders, is a clinical psychologist who has specialized in infidelity for 40 years.
He tells betrayed wives to separate from their husbands within 3 to 4 weeks of finding out their husbands are having an affair. Do you know why? Because if they stay longer they have nervous breakdowns and many suffer years of post traumatic stress disorder.
You have already been dealing with this horrific situation for 5-6 months.
What you are doing is setting yourself up for a nervous breakdown. When that happens, you will have to be hospitalized and guess who will move in and take your place?
Think about that for a minute.

The 2 times that I told him we needed to file we talked about who would leave. When I married him, I moved to where he lived which is 45 minutes away from where I am from. I would have to completely uproot my daughter from her school, friends, etc. He does have family all around here that he could stay with. His grandmother lives right beside us.

When you ask him to move out, would you be able to change the locks and keep him out? If not, then you need to move out with your daughter. Do you understand how important it is for you to separate from him? And how important it is to expose this affair to everyone? I have a feeling the affair would be killed if you exposed everywhere immediately. I really cannot imagine that his family and friends endorse adultery. Have they all told you they condone adultery?

If the OW lives close by, then the best thing for you all would be for you to uproot your daughter and move back to your home. That way, if you reconcile, he would have to move to your home town, AWAY from the OW. That may be your only hope anyway. Your H is so severely addicted to the OW that I doubt he could stay away from her while living right there. It is for that reason that I would not hesitate to move back to your home and take your daughter. That might be your best option. And it would also be in your best interest to live with or close to your family because you will need plenty of support.

He told them all about it before I ever knew. On DD when I confronted him, I asked who all knew. I was shocked! Both his parents, his best friend and his wife. Here's a real kicker...he told my stepdad! That's who finally clued me in on the whole thing.

But, your husband is a liar so they probably don't know or if they do know anything it is a lie or a highly spun version. So that is where I would start. Tomorrow, contact every one of these people and tell them all about the affair. Tell your MIL and FIL in person and ask them to help break up the affair. Send all the others emails. DID YOU READ MY EXPOSURE THREAD?? Go read the exposure thread tonight and start making your plan. Make up lists of your exposure targets and include the OW's facebook contacts, the head of the softball league and the other parents on the softball team.

Contact his parents, his grandmother, his other family and close friends. contact your own parents also. Tell your 9 year old along with the other softball parents and the directors of the softball league.
You are going to have to toughen up here, my friend, if you want to save your marriage. Being timid never saved a marriage.

My daughter is oblivious to what is going on. She's completely in the dark. I have considered asking him to leave. Right now, I don't want to ruin my daughter's Christmas. From the description you gave of your stepdaughter's behavior around the house and her frequent phone calls with OW, there's a good chance your daughter already has a clue about her father's affair. Does your stepdaughter live with you full time or does your husband have partial physical custody of her? Frankly, I don't see how you can function at all with that kid in the house. She is beyond disrespectful; she is downright cruel to you. Living in that environment may also be causing your daughter tremendous stress. I know you don't want to make any major changes in your daughter's life before Christmas, but I'm wondering if she might actually be relieved to be surrounded by your family, and away from the awful drama in your house. Also, if you need to have her switch schools, the upcoming holiday break might be a good opportunity to do it. In fact, since you aren't currently working outside the home and your family doesn't live that far away, you may be able to move in with your family now and drive your daughter to and from school each day during the brief period from now until holiday break begins. (I know it would be inconvenient, but it could be much easier than trying to prepare for the holidays in that tension-filled house when you are on the verge of a nervous breakdown.) Then she could begin her new school after the holiday break.

I agree 100% with Jessica. I cannot imagine living with a teenager who was cheering on an adulterous affair.....right in front of my 9 year old. The stress levels of you and your daughter have to be astronomical, nowords. This is why it is so important to get out of there.
Since your H's family is all around there and the OW is right there, I would just get out of there. You will have to move anyway if you expect to ever recover your marriage.

Nowords,
I do hope you are heeding the excellent advice you are receiving. There are plenty of programs and books out there about affairs and marriages, but Dr. Harley has proven success in this field. You are receiving advice that Dr. Harley would be giving you. This advice gives you and your marriage the best chance of survival.
The people who follow his advice step-by-step either recover their marriages, or if the marriage is not recoverable, they recover their dignity and health.
The steps to take aren't easy, but they are your best chance in ending the affair. Ending the affair is the priority. While you work on exposure, the first step in ending the affair, you must also do what it takes to protect your emotional and physical health.
Move back to your family's home as soon as possible. Find a lawyer and start working on a dark separation.

I agree JC and have no doubt that the stepdaughter is causing as much conflict and upheaval as she possibly can...including in your own DD's life. This must be very confusing for your DD who may start to think this is normal and acceptable. Take control of your life and teach your daughter that it is not ok to be treated like this. People move all the time and your DD will adjust and be fine especially if you can get her close to your family and their support.

I would also be willing to bet that many parents of the softball team also know about the affair.
The problem is that they do not know the "truth." They only know what DH, OW and stepdaughter have spread around and it is probably something like you have been planning to divorce for a while.
Waywards are liars and they have no problem painting YOU as the bad guy to make their immoral behaviour look innocent.
You will be amazed at how people will come to your aide once you expose the TRUTH and ask for their support.

Your WH needs a serious shock. Moving out would give him that shock. He'd also be left on his own to care for your stepdaughter. Maybe he got so defensive when you said you wondered if he's using you because HE KNOWS HE'S USING YOU.
You're keeping a home together for him and the kids while he runs wild. Get yourself to safe ground. You'll be amazed at how much better you start to feel and he'll be left to grapple with the destruction he created.
You can do this.

Yes I think when I said that I had felt he was using me, he got angry because he knew I figured him out. I just can't believe someone can be so demented that they would be so loving towards another while they're doing all this awful things to them. It's all so so sad.

Also, I promise that my 9 yr old has NO idea anything is going on. My stepdaughters actions are totally done for my acknowledgement only. She has not clued my daughter in on anything...my husband would be furious. And my 9 yr old is also a VERY open child. She asks many questions if she is bothered by something. I would definitely know if she had any idea.

Hello, all. I'm new here, but have lurked for a little while now. I'm really hoping to get some help if at all possible. My story is complicatedplease bear with me.
My husband and I have been married going on 12 years. I am 42 and he is 35. We have 2 girls.a 15 yr old (from his 1st marriage) and a 9 yr old together. I found out in September that he had been having an affair since July. Both of our girls play travel softball and he is the head coach of our oldest's team. The OW is a mom of one of the girls on the team. Her daughter is our daughter's best friend off the team.
Before DD, my husband had began pretty much ignoring me. He wouldn't look at me, be in a car with me, and would not be home alone with me. I had asked my husband 3 separate times prior to DD if he was having an affair, and he always said no. When I had proof that he could no longer deny it, I confronted him. He said he'd end itof course, this didn't happen. He said he wasn't emotionally connected to me any longer and he enjoyed talking to the OW. He said it was new, exciting. He said that he had a lot of anger from over the years. I was not that into sex for a long time. We averaged once per month. I take full responsibility for that. I should have gone to the doctor to get help where that was concerned. He also informed me that my stepdaughter hated me and that I've been nothing but mean to her during our marriage.
My stepdaughter and I have had a rocky relationship. She does not like to be told what to do at all. We've had rounds over chores, but her only chores were taking out the garbage and unloading the dishwasher.which she no longer does either of those. I've never tried to be her friend, and I didn't feel I should. In my opinion, she needed structure and disciplineneither of which she got at her mother's.
I found out that my stepdaughter was pushing for my husband to leave me for the OW. She is in the middle of the whole affairshe knows way more about it than I do. She is constantly on the phone with the OW. If I leave the house, she lets the OW know she can call my husband. I don't even feel comfortable in my own home anymore. She's the OW's eyes and ears to everything that goes on in this house.
I told my husband on 2 separate occasions that we should just file. I told him I wanted to do it as nicely as possible. Each time he would start backtracking. He asked for time. He went to his mothers for 2 days to find "him". When he came back, he said he was about ready to work on our marriage.
He has since been really loving toward me. But, at the same time, he's still seeing her. He's told me several times that he had ended itonly for me to find out otherwise. I found out that he had seen her last Wednesday. I just told him I couldn't do this any longer. He said that he would end it last Friday and would give me his trac fone that she has paid for him to have this whole time.
After he got home from work last Friday, he came in and said he ended it again. He did give me the phone which only had 1 service day left on it. We talked some and everything seemed really good.
Monday we were talking and I was telling him things that had gone through my head throughout this whole ordeallike he was just using me until he didn't need me anymore. I was just trying to be honest and get some things off my chest. Well, the next thing I knew he was angry and was asking me if I had been having him followed or had I put a tracking device on his phone or truck. I was completely shocked. I have never done any of those things. I knew when he saw her because he keeps a shirt in his truck to change into when he does. I had informed him earlier in this that she sheds. I just placed the shirt where I'd know if he had put it on and took it off. But he says it had to be more than the shirt.
He's been different since all that. Then last night she called his cell twice and I'm pretty sure he saw her. Also, my stepdaughter was in a decent mood and then all of a sudden went to hollering and screaming and twerking (yes, i said twerking) around the house. It was absolutely crazy. She was in the best mood EVER. So, I believe the OW let her know they saw each other.
At this point, I just don't know what to do. I love my husband so much and I want to save my marriage.but how much can I take? I'm down to 95 pounds. Any and all advice appreciated.
I Dr Harley would encourage you to expose this affair far and wide, including the 9 yr old. Have you done this?
