Not sure if this will be allowed here, but I thought it very interesting:

Should you be able to sue over a broken engagement? And how much should it be worth? The answer is yes, and about $50,000 ... at least according to a Georgia court. After giving his fiancee a ring and raising their child together for 10 years, Christopher Kelley decided he wanted to be with another woman. I've read about this happening in similar cases and NC still has an Alienation of Affection law

The woman actually got cheated on the settlement because the Book, The Case for Marriage (which Harley has referenced) contains much higher statistical figures for the value of marriage $$$
