Forgive me, because I'm not married, but looking for advice nonetheless. I am a college student with a girlfriend in college 6 hours away. We have been dating for about a year and a half and I love her so much I can hardly breath sometimes.
I went on a study abroad program and became very close friends with a woman from my college who had a boyfriend. We grew very close and although we were attracted to each other we knew nothing would happen because we both valued our boyfriend/girlfriend too much. After we returned to school I told my girlfriend about my friendship with this other woman but then let the subject drop.
We quickly grew into stronger and stronger friends, and spent a lot of time together. I didn't want my girlfriend to worry about something I knew wasn't a threat to us, so I never told her about it. Recently she found an email I had written to my friend in which I mentioned our 'special and unique friendship' and she understandably feels very hurt that I kept it from her.
I didn't cheat on her but it doesn't matter. I was still dishonest and I still lied to her by not telling her and she's still unable to trust me.
How can we rebuild trust when we're at school 6 hours apart? I would appreciate any advice people can give. Please don't think that just because we're not married that our love isn't real; I need your advice.

grimes,
Just because you and the other girl did not develop a sexual relationhship doesn't mean that this is not a big deal. Sounds like the two of you had an emotional relationship.
The problem with emotional relationships is that they take effort and focu away from the primary relationship - the pne between you and your girlfriend. An infidelity has occured, because you breached the trust in the relationship your girlfriend thought she had with you. You lied and that means she doesn't trust you right now.
Trust is a GIFT and it must be EARNED. It is so easy to destroy trust, but oh so hard to earn it back.
If you want to earn her trust back, you will have to work very, very hard and be understanding that she will doubt you until she gets some trust back for you.
If I were you, I would make sure at this juncture that there are NO MORE LIES OR SECRETS. If you have any more confessing to do - DO IT NOW! If she catches you again so soon in another lie or an ommission, you might never have another chance with her.
Best of luck...
Roll Me Away
