If you can't find your H to serve him there is usually the option of Service by Publication: http://www.serve-now.com/articles/512/what-is-service-by-publicationIf you are in the US and he isn't then you should be able to file when you meet your state's residency requirements. Consult an attorney about the process. Many give a free consult or you can talk to a court's self help desk.
